Seven Dwarves Mine Train Frequently Breaking Down?

Again, I figure that the ride is stopped due to animatronics issues. I've ridden plenty of coasters (old and new) in the rain, which isn't the best experience in the world. Unless the swinging carts have some unusual reaction to rain. Of course, I'm 800 miles away and thus not a source of reliable information.

Might not be reliable if I was one mile away, either.

I know it's a big thing with many of the folks on this board, but, honestly what is everyone basing their opinion of no maintenance on. It all looks and works pretty well when I'm there. It must be something that I don't know. What I do know is that many, many of the rides are almost 50 years old. You'd break down to, and will, when you get that age and the new ones are so much more hi-tech that it is a wonder that the run at all. Considering the fact that so many of those buildings and attractions have been sitting in the hot, humid Florida sun for all these years I find them to be in amazing condition. But, I guess it's just cooler to blame it all on Disney then to come to grip with realities.

LOL. I think it's cute you think Disney would stop a ride because of animatronic difficulties. Half of the animatronics on splash mountain didn't work for a couple years. I'm sure others could list some more here.

I know. I think that they called it going "101" or something like that but it may be a thing of the past. Plus, the animatronics are one smaller piece of the ride. I just can't imagine why it would close otherwise. Coasters are, generally speaking, fairly reliable. SDMT isn't anything technically unique, except for the swinging cars. The cars aren't that unique and the coaster doesn't go fast enough to elicit major concerns (again, just a humble opinion). Just up the road from me, Kings Island runs a 170 foot inverted coaster that, in its first year, ran pretty much like clockwork. Only coasters I know of with issues are typically launched coasters. Plus, Rip, Ride, Rockit but I don't know what is wrong with that thing.

It is kind of different because most coasters do not slow down in the middle of the trip to ride slowly through a mine. It is a little more technical then a gravity run coaster.

If WDW was forced to close the biggest merchandise location (i.e. emporium) in the park each time an "E" ticket attraction in that park was closed for repairs, would you expect more preventive maintenance, quicker and longer lasting repairs, less neglect, and overnight work?
