I talked to a cast member about it on my most recent trip (March 2016), and he told me that it has to do with the computers that run the ride. Also someone that day ran out on to the track, and they had to shut the ride down for that reason too ...

You know nothing. You haven't a clue of how operations work inside the park let alone how often things break.
So while you may think it's rude? It's not rude to Disney, it's rude to the guests because it's an accurate observation.

Yup... pretty sure Montu, Kumba, Cheetah Hunt, Kraken, Mako ect...ect... are all out in the same elements and they do not go down like SDMT. I don't really understand it other than poor maintenance.

Disney cares to make things good to the point you're too mad to spend more money.
To be honest, I'm surprised people have put up with the poor maintenance as well as the have (seemingly no slow down in visitors).
