I am not giving my opinion.

I am providing the opinion (if you can call it that) of Imagineering.

For me, that's the bottom line, ultimate authority.

It make no sense.... If you build the best E-ticket in the world, if people don't ride it, its not a E-ticket. Common sense would dictate popularly, or fan reaction if you want, has to be part of the equation.

If you are only taking a narrow engineering view, only considering that, well then it cannot be a fair evaluation.

Entitled to what?
Disney's opinion?
Ok.

If you want to make up your own system, based on your opinion, have at it.
Just be aware that isn't official and may not relate at all to what the designers/builders think.

Thank you!............they may want to go out and see what they ended up with...........AKK

So your saying they all sit down and say we are building d mine train based on Snow White....we don't care what the people riding it think we are going to build what we want ?

Yep.
That's pretty close to how it happens, though they don't think about the letter rating nearly as much as the fans do.

OK....we agree!............were paying to much attention to d or E!

Maybe I need clarify, I don't at all doubt your word that the design team doesn't put a lot of worry into popularity after built and they started out to build a D ticket attraction. However the whole idea of building a attraction is to present a show to the public...........they have to like! or why build it???

I guess my point is they out did themselves, and ended up with a E ticket based on what went into the attraction and how well it ended up. I believe popularity has to be considered, but I also agree with you, that just because a attraction is popular does not automatically make it a E ticket!

I had a very good old imaginer buddy, Dave Gengenbach, who past away about 14 years ago...............right now I wish he was here.

He had great stories about Walt, DL and the building of WDW.

Yeah, if all I cared about was coasters, there are several places close by in my area (Philly)- off the top of my head, you've got Hershey Park, Dorney Park, and 6 Flags. Much cheaper and less than a 2-hour drive away. And yet, I'm not pinching and saving to go to any of those places.

All on these boards, people say that Disney lost the ideas of "Show" and experience and were instead just content to run a theme park with rides. Now, here's something that goes back to that old school mentality, and people are complaining that it isn't going to be a thrilling enough theme park ride. *facepalm*

I totally agree that the theming looks really well done on 7DMT and that that's the most important thing. I also agree that it's probably intentionally not too thrilling so that it's not too scary for young kids. However, I'd like to see something with thrills and theme. Magic Kingdom has not built a new roller coaster since it opened, right? (Splash Mountain is a Mountain but not a coaster). Not surprising that people want it to meet their expectations. Personally I hope it's comparable in thrills to Thunder Mountain, but even if it is more "kiddie", it looks like it will be fun.

Hi Morningstar.

Actually Space mountain and BTRR were built a number of years after the MK opened.

I for one don't want to see the MK as a Thrill park, much more family and the Disney characters and magic.

There are thrill attractions at Epcot, HS and AK, for teenager thrills, there's 6 flags, and Uni type parks.

Just my opinion and to be honest many others as well..

So what makes it an E ticket is totally subjective by someone that is making the decision. Question: Is Toy Story considered an E now?

The current analogue of an E-ticket is a Fastpass. The most popular rides use it. Will 7DMT get Fastpass? My guess is yes, though it might only rate it because of its novelty.

Popularity cannot be a factor. They would not be able to assign a D or E to a new ride if it were. There are no popularity ratings for rides that haven't been ridden yet. It would just be a guessing game..

From Wikipedia:
The phrase E ticket (or E ticket ride) refers to an unusually interesting, thrilling, or expensive experience. It derives from the admission ticket system used at the Disneyland and Magic Kingdom theme parks before 1982, where the E ticket (officially termed "E coupon") admitted the bearer to the newest, most advanced, and/or most popular rides and attractions.
Although they were officially called "coupons", visitors commonly referred to the admission media as "tickets", as they were often sold in "ticket books". This gave rise to the term "E ticket". Disney has continued to informally call its best attractions "E tickets", even those opened after the coupon system was discontinued, such as Splash Mountain, Indiana Jones Adventure, The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, and Soarin' Over California. "E ticket" has survived the discontinuation of coupon admission at Disney theme parks and has transcended into the lexicon of popular culture.

Some have actually posted comments on various threads, that why isn't it a major thrill coaster?, since it isn't, it a big disappoint!

I have not seen any comments that say "since its not a major thrill coaster its a disappointment". Not saying they dont exist, I just havent seen them. Please quote one.

The theming, story line and innovation in mechanical engineering, give it all the items needed to be a E ticket.

What exactly have you seen in regards to theming, storyline and mechanical innovation? The ride through video had most of the theming covered up or it wasnt installed yet. It also didnt give/show much of the storyline and the cars DID NOT swing from what I saw. The live chat with imagineer didnt give any details about these either. I am NOT saying these things wont be in place when the ride opens, just curious what you saw (or think you saw) that actually validates these statements, or is this just conjecture?

You also stated earlier in this thread that the ride is "over the top". I believe @lazyboy97o asked you to elaborate but I didnt see an answer yet. Apologies if I missed it.

FYI, I look forward to riding 7DMT and will ride it every time I visit and enjoy it so please dont take my questions as argumentative or that I wanna tear it apart. Whether its an A,D, or Z ticket, I dont care. It will be enjoyable. Im just calling a spade a sp..... a short kiddie coaster.

There have been no cast member previews. The ride has not been handed over from WDI at this point. Any riders are construction crew related.
