That's like saying Frozen didn't look good because it came out in the same season as the Hunger Games sequel and Anchorman 2. Apples and oranges.
Disagree, movies(most) don't have a sense of depth. You can sit in a 2d environment and things will always look somewhat similar no matter what you do, but when you compare 3d environments it's entirely different.

Certainly, Anchorman 2 didn't have any depth! Doh-ho-ho!

Another Uni vs. Disney argument...

Do they pay people to come on to WDW boards and state the same tired argument over and over again????

Sigh....I love WDW and always will. Why people keep trying to make it about this huge competition I will never understand. I like Universal but is has no magic or special appeal to me at all. WWoHP is so small and cramped, you can't fit into the shops, the FJ ride made me sick then dumped me into a small gift shop, they rethemed a coaster to fit into the land, and they have a kiddie ride (Flight of the Hippogriff) that sucks. Yawn.

Let me start by saying that Disney is where the magic is for me and always will be,..but look at it like this;

-You say WWoHP is small and cramped. Belles Village is not that large by comparison. Have you been on a busy day? With all the strollers and people standing around looking at stuff (because there isnt much else to do) its not easy moving around.

-You say FJ made *you sick (understandable) but not everyone gets motion sickness and it is a highly loved attraction with great theming and arguably more innovative than anything in New FL and can be enjoyed by kids and adults.

-You say they rethemed a coaster AND added a kiddie ride (thats 2 attractions). Disney did both of those in one with Goofini and they hardly even rethemed it except for the queue area. And if Hippogriff makes you yawn, then im sure Goofini does as well because and its over before you can even finish yawning.

Belles meet and Greet was the cheapest thing I think Disney has ever done with an attraction, if you can even call it that. (aside from Lumier)

Little MEramid is a clone (and not a good one) enough said about that.

7DMT will give it a boost but youve got HP 2.0 to counter that which looks like the obvious winner.

Pound for pound Uni has outdone Disney and Im not saying that with ANY type of joy. It should seriously be the other way around! If Disney had built New FL the way the used to build attractions (decades ago) we would not be having the Uni vs Disney debate AT ALL. Uni would barely be on the radar, even with HP.

You make some valid points-and thanks for doing it so respectfully! Kudos! I guess my point was that for me, there is just something so welcoming about magic kingdom where I feel so at home when I walk into it. To use an overused expression, it's simply magical. And maybe that is linked to nostalgia and for me- that's okay. I give props to Universal for doing some things extremely well: the spiderman ride is truly epic and The Mummy ride is hands down the best ride I have ever ridden in my life. Scary, fun, visually impressive. Do I wish there was more to do in the NFL- sure. But, I've never viewed it as competition to Potter or as a separate land. I always viewed as an extension of Fantasyland: an addition to Peter Pan, Pooh, Small World, Philharmagic, Pinnochio's Village Haus, etc. It gives some more space to move around (hopefully more once the Mine Train opens) and adds an aesthetic appeal that was missing from the Renaissance tents.

So, when I compare ALL of Magic Kingdom to Universal- the two just don't compete in my books. But I respect those who feel differently. I know some people feel Disney quality is slipping or that Disney should be more innovative. I hope Avatar and the one day new Studios additions can make people have faith again. But for me, I enjoy what they are doing and doing well and I know they will continue to innovate for years to come. The work in Disneyland and Disney parks overseas shows they still have the vision and talent-it's just that WDW (in Florida) needs its share of love too.
