September

We visited Disney this past September 9-15. It was as hot and humid as July and August but the crowds were lighter so it was more bearable. It did rain in the afternoon maybe 3 of our 7 days....and I mean torrential so we had to find shelter, but it was short lived. The lines were short in the weekdays and long on the weekends. The exceptions to the rule were Peter Pan's Flight, Toy Story Mania and Sorin. We made ADR just to be on the safe side, but we could have just walked in without them except for the Signatures. Have a great trip! :cat:

We have gone several years in September and always found it to be a great time. We attended the Halloween party once, and it was ok, but not worth the extra money for tickets. It used to have MUCH lighter crowds, but then they started offering "free dining" (that's not really free) and it got hugely popular, so now it can be very busy. We now go in November or the first week of December. Have fun whichever month you decide to go...

Was hoping to get some info on what it's like to visit in September. Weather, crowds, etc.
Crowds are very low from Labor day until the start of the Food and Wine festival.

The weather is hot. It is very hot. I usually have to alternate outdoor rides with indoor rides to get more core temp down with air conditioning. It will rain, but it doesn't deter me. The low crowds are well worth it.

It may rain but it is all good, not horrible. We have had storms blow thru but never long enough to ruin a full day or a full evening. Crowds pick up at the end of the month but are low before. We love September as a visiting time! Go, have fun!

We love September. We've like the low crowd levels and the ability to walk onto most rides. We've been in September many times. Weather varies but most of the time it is hot and humid. However, we've had very comfortable temps and low humidity and we've had lots and lots of rain. It is one of the peak hurricane months so a tropical storm or hurricane is always possible.

We went the 19th -23rd this last year. While other parts of the country may start to cool off a bit by September, in many of the southern states...I feel the weather from June to September is pretty much the same...minus a few ultra hot/slightly cooler random patches here or there. We had rain here and there, but nothing that a poncho can't fix. As for crowds- very low for the most part.

We went September 2001, 2009, 2011 and will be there again 2014. We love the lower crowd levels, but yes the weather is hot and humid and there is usually a rain shower every afternoon. Just bring your ponchos and carry on! Usually you can get free dining too so that's a bonus.

Sorry, I just have special things planned out to make the honeymoon as romantic as possible and they are all outdoors (fireworks cruises, dessert party, carriage ride, wild africa trek, and others) so that's why I'm kind of freaking out over it. I'm going to be very disappointed if any of them get cancelled.

Don't know if you checked out my TR, but our last trip in Sept there was no rain, but it was still hot and humid and there were thunderstorms in the area, we just lucked out. We have also been in Sept. when it rained almost the entire trip. If you get "very disappointed" by the weather possibly causing cancellations, I would suggest to stop worrying about something you have no control over and make the best of it.
Honeymoon in Disney! How great is that? We celebrated 31 years there not long ago. Weather did not matter one bit...if something gets cancelled there are so many other things to do! Hope it is a good trip.

Thanks. I did look at your trip report, it was a really good one. Looks like you guys had a blast. I'm just a worry wart. I worry about everything. Lol. But your right, we'll just have to go with the flow.

I know what you mean...I sometimes worry about worrying too much. My wife says I make up things to worry about and here I am telling you not to worry. We did have a great trip this past Sept., and that has become about our favorite time to go, but early May and early Dec. are good as well.

Late September has Love bugs. They don't bite, they're just annoying in that they can and will be everywhere you want to sit or lean.

Weather-wise it's hot, rainy, but no worse than August. If a rare hurricane comes through that hits WDW, they will shut down all parks and then reopen them as they assess and repair damage. I was there with my kids for Charlie. Disney did a fantastic job of keeping everyone safe. They evacuated Ft Wilderness, and put everyone into POR.
MK was the first park to re-open the very next day, AK was the last (I believe it took them 3 days to repair damage to trees and buildings.)

When it is raining, windy or there is lightning in the area, Tink will not fly during Wishes. If it is storming, Wishes is postponed until the weather clears (as long as the park is still open). In the summer we have experienced 10 pm Wishes being delayed until after 11 pm ( park had a midnight close). And a couple of really bad continuos stormy nights Wishes was canceled.

Fantasmic is affected a lot more by weather than Wishes. And Illuminations is almost never canceled (hurricane only, I was told).
