September VS. December

Im thinking of going to disney either the last week of September or the first week of December. What time would normally be less busy?

I think September is pretty slow after labor day. I hear the Labor Day weekend time frame is pretty busy. I have been to WDW quite a few times at Christmas and it is fairly busy, and quite chilly at night. In September you will probably be able to do the water parks. (help?)

Therefore, my vote is: April

I spent the last 2 weeks of September at Disney, and the last 2 in December this year. I think September is better. It was less crowded, we had virtually no wait lines and the ones we did have were for maybe 10 minutes. I prefer the September/October months. I don't think I would ever go in December again. But, hey who knows I go with the invite.

September is a great time to go as most kids are back in school by then so the wait times are very small. It is certainly warm enough to go swimming at any time day or night, still very much summer in Fla.
The first 2 weeks of December are also delightful but for some very different reasons. The kids are still in school so wait times are pretty minimal also ( although on the week of Christmas thru New Years it is JAMMED) It can be cooler and that is pretty unpredictable. I have been there when it was 90 and when it was 30 and all at around the beginning of December! BUT the kicker is the Christmas Festivities in Disney. It is pretty amazing. Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party is done ONLY at that time of year as well as the Candlelight Processional. There was actually a great Travel Channel Special on Disney at Christmas TIme with Samantha Brown. If you can get a copy of it, check it out.
You will have an amazing time whichever you decide!! Belle

I've been in the last week of September, and just as other have said the crowds are minimal. We walked on to almost every attraction. The only drawback, is it's still quite warm and humid, there were quite a few afternoon t-storms, but they passed quickly. The other drawback is, September is peak hurricane month.

Another plus for the first week of December is the Christmas decorations are up.

September is my prefered time of the year to go. I get there either on Labor day or the day before, just to see the last showing of the MK fireworks, then after Labor day it slows waaaaaaaaaaaaay down. The longest line is 15 minutes, and that's to catch a bus! Stay away from Epcot on the weekends though.

Nice to have run into you in December ConnTom. Did Jamie of Off Kilter have anything good to say after I left? I checked their website today and it still hasnt changed. It really does need a pretty major overhaul! Have you seen our thread about another Meet & Greet possibly in July?? July seems to be the month that everyone wants to do this, but it is up for a vote!! Hope to have your voice in on the vote also!! Belle

First week of December would be my pick. We usually go the last week of September and it can be a bit too warm then for me. I guess it depends on what type of weather you are used to. But if you have never been to WDW during Christmas-time you have to do it at least once. The first few weeks of December are some of the lowest for attendance historically. If you time the trip right you can be at the MK for the taping of the Christmas Day Parade too.

The Christmas decorations are out of this world!

Ok, I haven't been in Spet before, but we went in Aug and it was miserable (not the crowds, the rain.) It really dampined our trip and keep us from doing alot. (hours of rain everyday.) I am guessing Sept is still rainny season. Dec espeically the 1st week can be great, low crowds and and Christmas magic. Weather can be hit and miss, we went Dec 2001 and it was great but most of Dec 2002 and 2003 wasn't as nice.

My vote is Dec, because low crowds, and while it might be a tad chilly, less chances of rain.

We just got back and had great weather for most of the trip, (low 80's and sunny.) A cold frount came through and it was only 60 on the last day, but it made it easier to come back to Michigan.

Hi Conntom, Thanks for the info. We didnt even put December on the poll as we had already done a Meet then. We wanted to try to give everyone a chance to get involved. Some people couldnt make it during beginning of December due to school commitments etc. so we are trying for round two!! I am still going back in December of 2004 in any event but the Meet will definitely be before that. Maybe we will do one then, but lets see how the summer version goes!!! Hope to see everyone there!! PM me if you are interested!! Belle

I went the first week of December this past year and I've got to say, I've never seen all the parks this empty. I walked on everything, even Space and Splash Mountain. All the Christmas decorations are up, and the entire resort looks really amazing. It wasn't that cold either, but it wasn't warm. I've never been in September, so I can't give you that side the argument, but I plan on going again next December.

First or second week of December. Christmas decorations and shows without the Christmas crowds.:D

Mid-September is great crowd wise but very humid.:(
(Of course if you plan to hit the water parks a lot September beats December.)

April? Nope. Still Spring break crowds most of the month.

I've been every month except July and August. Each month has advantanges and disadvantages depending on what you are looking for. Just pick a date and go. You'll have a great time.:)
