Someone told me that with the September discounts that they usually announce, the Moderate is actually cheaper than the Value? Is there any truth to this?

We currently have a Value Resort booked. We're about to have our entire package, with dining payed off by the middle of April. When they announce the discounts for September, if we apply the Value Resort discount would we get money back or how do they normally go about it?

I usually go late Sept/October at a room only, and have to wait until Julyish for the fall discounts to be available so I don't pay rack rate. One time I got impatient and booked a week before the discount came out, but I called and got the discount rate. I think they had to cancel the first one, and then re-book it.

I think within 30 days of your checkin date you can switch your reservations (or cancel) with no penalties. After that you may have to pay for the first night deposit, but if you're just altering your reservation, and not canceling it entirely, they'll cut you some slack. So if you book now, and a better deal comes along, you can swap.

Some of the moderates last year were seeing discounts as deep as 25% for September dates. I haven't run the numbers, but it's worth looking into. I also know some people are seeing even deeper discounts on sites like Orbitz as they get closer to their travel dates.

Do you lose all of your other stuff that you have booked if they cancel the first one? I have all of our dining reserved, plus the Wild Africa Trek and a carriage ride booked.

I just returned a couple weeks ago. Quick background: Made reservations at Coronado in late January and also made FP+ arrangements and Magical Express. Two weeks later, I switched to Port Orleans (I just like it better) and all my reservations switched with it. Then, two days prior, I switched to Wilderness Lodge as the rooms were steeply discounted. I don't recommend the last minute switch but they did accommodate me. Even at that late date, all my reservations (FP+, Magical Express, and a reservation at a restaurant) followed me. I didn't have Disney Dining but I think that it is safe to assume that it would have followed as well.

If you want the best answer, call WDW Reservations and ask them directly.

All reservations are linked to your myDisneyExperience account, so changing the resort reservation linked to your account wouldn't affect dining, FP+, or MagicMaker (or whatever Photopass is now).

They just apply the discount to your reservation and refund the difference in the price. However, this differs if you completely change your reservation, like switching from a package to room only. Remember, they only have so many rooms reserved for each offer, so it helps to monitor the discount offers and call right away when they come out.

Ended up getting a discount which was pretty good. Got almost $200.00 off of my entire package balance and got free memory maker for the entire trip.
