I am going to Disney in September with one of my friends, and we are going to use his DVC points to stay at one of the DVC villas. We are trying to decide which one to stay at Boardwalk Villas or Wilderness Lodge Villas. which one do y'all think is better to stay at?

we have not stayed at boardwalk yet but we have been to & are going to wilderness this sept also. This will be our 6 stay at VWL. we love it. but everyone loves a resort for their own reasons. i say look on the internet for pics of each resort & see if you like the theme for that resort

The only places available this Sept are OKW and SS. Weekend dates have more availability but most weekdays are gone.

I have to check with my friend again, but I thought he said that when he looked into it they told him that Sept. was open. But then again that was a few days ago.

I have stayed in both the Boardwalk Villas (2006) and the WL Villas (2007) in September and will be back at the Boardwalk this Sept. The rooms are identical, so the only differences are in the perks each resort has to offer. The Boardwalk has better location since you can walk or take a boat to both Epcot and MGM. Also, the some of the Villas rooms surround the main pool. So, if you ask for one on the first floor, you can walk out your patio door straight to the pool.

At the WL you will have to deal with the buses to get anywhere, but it has some perks. First, it has a nice quick service dining location which the Boardwalk is lacking. You can watch the electric water pageant from the boat pier each night. Also, there are a couple of things that you can only do at the WL. They have a very cool Hidden Mickey scavenger hunt there. You can get a sheet from the front desk that contains clues about all of the official Hidden Mickeys at the resort. You can also ask at the front desk about being a flag family for the day. If you can get signed up for this, you get to go up to the roof of the WL with a cast member and raise the flags in the morning. You get the coolest view of the MK and the MK resort area while you are up there.

So the bottom line on all of this is: If you are not planning on spending much time in your resort, or spending all of the time you are at your resort in the pool, I'd go with the Boardwalk. If you are planning on coming back to your resort in the afternoons and spending some leisurely time there, go with the Wilderness Lodge. Hopefully there will be rooms available for you!

Not 100% accurate - there is boat service to MK, Ft Wilderness and Contemporary. We take the boat to the Contemporary and then the monorail to Epcot when we stay at WL :animwink:.

That is totally true... but through extensive transportation racing with my family, we have found that the bus ride to Epcot is generally faster than the boat/monorail combo, but nowhere near as cool.
