Well. if you go Sept 08th you could get free dining if they offer it this year. We went last Sept but didn't get free dining. Other than the heat it was WONDERFUL! No wait for anything.:) I will say that it did rain every night that we were there. Big thunderstorms that lasted for a couple of hours. I missed wishes.

Oct is a great time to go too but with Fall break it will be a little more crowded, but still not bad. I really like to go this time of the year.

I have never been in Jan so I'm not sure.

I went in Sept last year and it was busier than other Sept. in the past. What stunk was my whole week it rained. That is something you do have to watch out for in Sept, because of Hurricanes.

We have visited twice in September, once for the free dinning and the crowds are higher when they're offering "free dinning". The weather is HOT~~HOT! So, the only reason why we go in Sept is because of the "free dinning".

Now, October....we visited the last week in October and it's the best time to go. The crowds and weather is so much better. It's our choice of time to go so I don't mind having to pay for the dinning. (On the last week of OCtober we had the fall decorations and once it hit Nov 1 overnight we saw Christmas!)

January, we never have any money left after Christmas to swing a trip.

We are going in October 08. 6 - 12 to be exact. From what we have read and heard the crowds are relatively low ( we don't mind waiting if we have to, and there is always FP) Dining is not free, but food and wine is going so the booths set up around epcot should provide a different experience. . . I would suggest then.

I love October, we just avoid Columbus Day weekend. It is usually still hot. The crowds are not predictable except that it's way less crowded than July.

January would get my vote. No excessive heat, little rain, very low crowds! If the P&P Party is going on, major attractions are literally walk ons and well worth it, especially if you have children. Resort are at Value rates, too. In the past we have gotten very good promo's.
More on the weather--If you're coming from a northern climate, the break from the snow is a welcomed treat. We've seen everything from low 80's for temps (in 07) to low 40's (also in 07, during the same visit). My point is, Florida weather in January is like a box of chocolates--you never know what you're gonna get!! :)

We went last year in October, and are going this Oct. mainly because we both work for the school system and that is fall break. There were alot of people from the southeast(AL,GA, FL) because of fall break. But it still wasn't really crowded. The first few days we were there were the busiest, as it was Columbus day weekend. But the rest of the week was great. I've seen it slower in October in the past, but I still say it is a good time to go.

We always go the last week of September. You can go to Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party, it is still warm enough during the day to swim, the crowds are extremely manageable during the week (more crowded on weekends) and you have the Food and Wine Festival at Epcot.

I would NOT NOT NOT go in Sept. When we went this past sept it was horrible. It rained like crazy on the first night of MNSSHP. It was also unbearably HOT. It rained everyday. And let me tell u the heat is even worse after the rain. It feels like a steam bath. The crowds were terrible. I dont think that there is a "slow" time anymore. The other times I went in Sept it was great but I think to many people are getting hip to the free dining. I would go in Jan. Last year when we went in Jan we had a couple days warm enough for the pool and then just enjoyable weather. The crowds were tame and we really didnt wait long for anything. Just dont go during the Marathon:wave:

when did you go in sept?

We went the second week I believe. It was really hot but I was so happy to see the crowds so small. The rain at night was the only problem but only because we were limited to only 5 days. I really wanted to see Wishes & the parks at night but the storms lasted for a couple of hours so we just did something else & we rested for the next day.

If I had the money to go back this year, I would really shoot for Sept again. I would even pull my kids out of school to go. I'm a baaaad mom!

ps. We didn't have the free dining but that would have been nice.

Really depends on your weather preferences and potential cost savings. Our last 2 trips have been in September. Prior to that we would go in August -- so we don't mind the heat and actually enjoy some afternoon time by the pool. January is questionable weather wise -- could be warm and nice or very cool. May or may not be able to swim -- you also need to pack a lot more since you need to plan for both short weather and pants and sweatshirts. September is awesome. Crowds are generally light especially early in the week. Last two trips we got the free dining which is always a bonus since we love the DDP. I hear October is fun -- especially with EPCOT food and wine. I would plan to go late September or October. Make sure you do the Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party. Very Awesome!! Either way, just pick a time, don't stress over it, then have fun counting the days. Anytime is a fun time at Disney.

I would suggest visiting in October, but more closer to the end of the month, after Columbus Day.

I visited WDW in October 2007, from Oct. 20-26. For the most part, it was very enjoyable and relaxing experience. The temperatures were very warm, upper 80s, some humidity, with lows in the mid-to-low 70s. About mid-week, though, a cool front blew through. It rained a little, and temps were in the upper 70s and lows in the mid-60s with overcast skies. That, and a little EPCOT Food and Wine Festival didn't heart either.

I arrived on a Saturday, stayed off property for a night in Kissimmee, and then checked-in at the Shades of Green, across from the Polynesian. Crowds were not too bad Sunday, when I went to the Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party.

Unfortunately the Palm and Magnolia golf courses were closed while the PGA moved in to prep for the Walt Disney PGA event, which was held the first weekend of November.

Monday through Wednesday it was pretty dead at WDW and at Universal. Sure, some of the more popular rides had long waits at all the parks, but I noticed Thursday and Friday (the day I left), the crowd surge was big.

I went by myself on the October trip, so it was interesting being in the single stand-by lines or being a lone rider and getting to quickly go through the lines (Everest and Rock n Roller and Tower of Terror and Test Track to name a few).

On the Tuesday of my trip I went to Universal with a friend of mine and practically all of the rides had a 5-minute wait, TOPS. My friend was shocked since he lives in Central Florida on the Spacecoast. He visited Universal in the summer with his son and the wait for, say, The Hulk or Spider-man and others were EASILY an HOUR or more.

I noticed that the Mission:Space wait times went up from 20-25 minutes to easily an hour or 70 minutes by Friday. The same can be said for Soarin'. So, if you go Friday-Sunday, expect some major wait tmes.

Best of luck and maybe I will see you in October 2008. I might need to schedule the trip before the golf courses shut down, but then again if I go closer to Halloween I still can play a round of golf, but it'll be over at the Pete Dye course or the Lake Buena Vista course.

We went Oct.6-15 of 07. We really liked being there for the halloween party. However, it was a bit more crowded then we expected, and the heat was brutal.
We are going back this year, but a little later in the month. Hopefully the crowds will be a little lower and we will hit more comfortable weather.

We visited WDW Oct 6-20 '07 and found that it was the best time we've ever been.
The weather was fine (hardly any rain and a manageable heat)
Crowds were big enough that there was some atmosphere (and minimum closures) but not so big that the waits were huge.
Add in the Halloween party and it's a great time to be in WDW.

My advice, for whenever you go, is to get to the parks for opening and leave after lunch for a swim/nap before coming back in the early evening.
You can hit the big rides with minimum wait first thing in the morning and you're usually asleep during the busiest/rainiest/hottest parts of the day!

Have a great time whenever you choose to go!
