Sentinel: "MGM" will remain, not Pixar

I can see that happening as well. We'll probably see more "defined" areas (Lucas area, Pixar area, MGM/Hollywood area). I'm not thrilled Pixar is invading MGM but overall, I think MGM ... er, Disney Studios desperately needs to be rethemed and given a new identity to make it a much more viable park. It's probably my favorite, honestly, so I'm glad it's getting the attention it deserves.

I hope they change up the Great Movie Ride, too, and add new movie scenes, which I think someone said could happen or will, eventually.

Anddddd ... I know this thread probably shouldn't turn into "what MGM needs to do or add" but god, I really wish they'd use the ABC Theatre. I'm surprised they haven't really done anything to tie in with ABC's more popular programming. Now would be a great time to bring back Superstar Television, using scenes from Desperate Housewives, Lost, Ugly Betty and Grey's, IMO. But that will never happen ... they should try and find a show, or something to put in it.

Sorry, one more post.

Can anyone tell me just where the Hunchback theater used to be? Maybe on a map ... I never notice it when I'm there so it must be cleverly hidden.

I like backlot!! I don't want it to go away! haha I love that drive through costume and set, even if they haven't produced anything in a while, it's fun to think that they have!
And I agree about GMR, even though it's about classics, it needs a little more oomph these days.

For sentimental reasons, I like the Backlot tour as well, but it's just the perfect area for it to be re-themed and makes the most sense if that's the way Disney is going, which is what it seems.

Again tho, I'm surprised they never re-themed the Honey playground into something Pixar-ish.

The Hunchback Theatre is behind San Fransisco, The Golden Gate Bridge is mounted on the roof of the theatre.

I like the name disney studios too! I like Pixar- but Lasster needs to not take over too much. More Classic Disney!!!!

You mean Jobs.

One Man's Dream should never, ever be touched!

OMD, while a good walkthrough, is hardly a classic attraction. Saying it should not be touched is just admitting that you can't deal with change. Once the Walt Disney Museum opens, OMD will pale in comparison. Though, OMD is in WDW so it will still probably stay. However, if they find a better use of the space at that point, they need to do it.

I also want to toss out that I like the idea of a Mary Poppins show moving into the ABC Theater. Not that it will ever happen but I think it'd be great. Haha.

A bit presumptuous are we? Me thinks someone got up on the wrong side of the bed this morning!

I love change, change is necessary, Walt loved the idea of change. I'm just saying that there should always be some type of attraction celebrating Walt Disney the man at Walt Disney World.

There wasn't for the first, what, 30ish years of the resort? So 'always' is hardly correct.

In addition to the Pixar retheming of the HISTK area (which I like, so I'm not saying I want them to do that), they could redo LMA to make it Cars related...and hopefully entertaining, something it isn't now. Additionally, they could kill that pathetic Narnia walkthrough and perhaps put the Crush coaster or Pizza Planet there.
As much as it pains me to say this, the Tour probably should go, too, if it's going to stay in its present state. They could do something like Universal, though, and keep Catastrophe Canyon as an attraction unto itself, and perhaps turn the area the tram used to drive through the Costume Shop as a walkthrough. These are pretty much the only highlights of the tram tour left anyway, except the Boneyard, which could be its own area, too. People might enjoy being able to have their pictures taken next to some of those vehicles and props. Then maybe they'd also keep them in better shape.
After the Tram Tour is gone, then the unused areas would all be free for developing. They could even slap in a clone of DCA's A Bug's Land, adding more kid-friendly fare to the Park, as well as a relatively cheap way to get 4 new attractions (I'd love to see an expanded Heimlich's Chew-Chew Train).
And for gosh sakes, do something with the Hunchback Theater. They could use some of that Tram Tour space to build a place to store the Osborne Lights (maybe make it walkthrough, too...another relatively cheap attraction), then put a new show in the Theater itself.
They could really get a ton of "new" attractions out of this thing, if done right.

They could. MGM has loads of potential and space, despite what it seems. Tons of unused areas and places for expansion and updating.

I think HISTK could go in place of a Bugs Land but it's a small area so all it COULD be would be a playground. No way there's room THERE for a small kiddie attraction plus a play area.
