We're leaving this Sunday for out trip and Im wanting to ride Space Mountain, BTMRR, Test Track, and Mayber Rock'N'Rollercoaster, seeing as I never have.

But... I have a really sensitive stomach. When my Mom speeds, I get dizzy.
My sister is a worse driver than my Mom but she atleast puts the windows down and I guess the fresh air makes me relax a little more.

ToT I tried when I was little and I know that one made me feel pukey but, I never blew chunks.

I just dont know what to expect with these other rides and I know someone out there can give me advice! :D

TIA!!

Sounds like you have a case of motion sickness. You should try taking some dramamine before going to the parks and getting on those rides. If speeding in a car makes you nauseous, then these attractions will make you miserable.

If you are adamant on riding those attractions I would definately recommend taking some sort of motion sickness medication to help you out with your weak stomach.

Good luck!

I would not go on those rides then...especially if u feel like :hurl: ! For one, I am the type of person who freaks out when someone mentions the "P" word. I get anxioty attacks is I see some one :hurl: . I have been 2 Disney 13 times and I never seen anyone get sick thank god cause it would of ruined my trip big time. I wish I can get over that phobia. I know, its weird but i wouldnt recommend it if u cant handle it. Think about the people around u who feels the way I do about :hurl: . That little icon makes me sick..:ROFLOL: . But I think there was someone on here mentioning different medications out there for motion sickness... ask around:wave:

That stuff doesnt make you feel all loopy does it?

Some kids I used to know said they would take more than a normal dose of that stuff to get high,

I take Dramamine an hour or so before I board Mission Space and have not had one bit of a problem. They have chewables that you can just have in your pocket and take if necessary. They tend to make some people drowsy but don't seem to effect me that way.

I get motion sickness (due to an inner ear problem) and can't ride quite a few rides. I always take my prescription medication, but Dramamine or Bonnine should help a bit. Remember to take some slow deep breaths (in thru the nose, out thru the mouth), sometimes closing my eyes till the feeling passes will help.

I have no problems with TestTrack and BTMRR only gets to me at that last dip before the end of the ride. I haven't been on Space Mountain since I was 17 (and I don't think I will ever go on it again :lookaroun ). I won't try any of the other coasters or Soarin' because I know what will happen...:hurl:

I love Ginger ale, lol, it always makes me feel a million times better!

I hope I dont have the drowsy side effect from Dramamine, I should try it before I go to see how I'll react to it.

Thank you guys so much!

The only thing dramamen (spell?!) might do is make you sleepy. I take it whenever I fly because I am so afraid of flying and sometimes it knocks me out. Good luck tho!

Actually Soarin' is surprisingly very, very smooth, and not at all like Star Tours or Body Wars. I know many with motion sickness who take that ride right in stride.

Get some Ginger. It really helps with stomachs.
Second the Ginger! Ginger pills work wonderful and there's no drug side effects. Dramamine WILL make you sleepy/drowsy/loopy. So it's never a great recommendation unless you can sleep through the source of motion sickness (i.e. a flight or car ride.) If you want to be awake and active but not get sick, DON'T take Dramamine.

Mythbusters even tested it and it was the winner for motion sickness aids:

If you need to settle your stomach before starting for the day, get some peppermint tea and sip a cup (hot.) Peppermint tea is another wonder for soothing an upset stomach.

Do they sell Ginger pills at like a GNC or walgreens?
I'll third the ginger and yes you can get the at GNC, Walgreen's and even Wal-Mart for that matter. You will need to take them more frequently than Dramamine (about ever 2 to 4 hours) but there are no drug side effects and you will be helping your digestive system as well. I would recommend to start taking ginger about a week before you trip as it can have cleansing effect on your digestive system if you diet is particularly bad. Trust me the cleansing effect is a good thing you just might not want to "cleanse" while at WDW.

It simulates flying and that sets off my vertigo, just like the flying scene in Ellen's Universe of energy. It has nothing to do with movement (though spinning makes me :hurl: ), its a malfunctioning inner ear.

Oh, as far as the ginger caps go...they work for my oldest, but not for me. Ginger ale is thye fluid of choice when the kids have upset stomachs. *thumbs*

I don't get motion sickness but I do have sever sinus problems which keep me from riding Mission:Space. As much as I enjoyed MS the few times I rode it, feeling like I was going to pass out was not pleaseant and the subsiquent headache that followed was enough to keep me from going on it again.

So I guess more than anything its going to be a personal judgement call on your part to decide if you can handle the attraction or not. But don't force yourself, you'll only make matters worse by getting yourself all worked up and worried. Good luck and I hope it all works out for you.

they actually make non drowsy dramamine now. i swear by that stuff. i cant rde in the back seat of a car without feeling gross. i have issues taking pills too, but these are so tiny they arent a problem. the coasters and rides there are pretty tame though, the ones here at six flags are brutal, and i can still handle them after taking a pill! though, i may try the ginger when i go down, just to see how that works. but i will have my dramamine, just in case. good luck!!!

The "non-drowsy" formula is only 1/2 the strength of the normal formula. It's the exact same ingredients, just less. To me, this isn't really all that helpful. All you're doing is giving someone less of the same thing, weakening the effectiveness and possibly making you less drowsy.

For the record, the active ingredient is closely related to the active ingredient in Benedryl. Benedryl is primarily an allergy medication but it's also good for anti-nausea and is the standard ingredient in over-the-counter sleeping pills. In fact, Tylenol PM uses the version found in Dramamine as it's active ingredient. The family of drugs it belongs to is a first-generation antihistamine - a class known to work well but also pretty universally make you sleep as well.

Anyway, "less drowsy" version or not, it's still the same active ingredient and will most likely still cause some mental effects and might not be enough to work as the anti-nausea medication.
