I was palnning a trip for Mid October, but may need to move it to Second or Third week of Febuary. Anyone know what the weather and crowds are like that time of year? Also when do they start taking resort reservations for Febuary 2010?
Thanks

You will want to go as early in February as possible. The room rates change from value to peak around the 14th and the crowds will really spike on President's day weekend. You can do a room only reservation now. Packages will become available in August.

Do to University (My wife is a Graduate Student and one son is an undergrade) we are looking at the week of Febuary 15th. It has been 5 years since we lived in the USA (we are Canadians) so when is Presidents Day weekend?

I think it will be on the 15th this year. The crowds are there during the weekend and tend to taper off during the week. The higher room rates will remain through that week if I remember correctly

I know last year the winter in Canada and the Northeast USA was so long by Febuary a lot of people just needed to get South. I do miss the winters in Florida.

If I can swing October does anyone have a comment on what week is the best time?
The whole month is pretty good. You have the food and wine festival and Mickeys not so scary Halloween party. Quite honestly you don't git much better than that. At most I would try and avoid the first week as it is the tail end of free dining.

Just be careful not to go during "President's week". It's near the end of the month Of February and people up North (Massachusetts, etc) have the entire week off of school. It's a break from school they get every year in between their winter and spring breaks. We made the mistake of going that week one time. It was SO crowded and it was extremely hot too. It was miserable.

I have been the first second and third weeks of February two times each....the first week usually starting partially during last few days of January....the third including presidents day weekend and week.

I have found that the middle week NOT ending in Presidents day weekend to be the most favorable....the first week best for crowds, but has been a bit cool...jeans and jackets 1/2 the time....the second week both times was perfect for me...60's in the morn and mid to high 70's during day...crowds very managable and not bothersome.....now that third week going into and after Presidents day...weather very nice in the low to mid 80's for highs little rain at all but as of Friday prior thru at least Tuesday the crowds were drastically different....as in first times they ever detracted from our time....we stay close so left to swim and returned. Yes that is the traditional break for most schools in North....and federal holiday for many locals.....I aim to never go again during that time. Besides the madness of the crowds we paid much more per night at our Disney resort....

I think if you start your trip on Wednesday following you should be fine....I think it should lighten up late week and following weekend from the masses heading back to the cold. I just keep hoping the district manages to have the irregular earlier :king:February week break again in.....

If you can manage the october dates instead I think you'll find the crowds considerably better. ALOT of Canadians go down for spring break the last 2 weeks of February ... and who wants to see that many Canadians on vacation  we could stay home and see them!

There's also college (University) breaks in the States that fall over that time but October you should get a better room rate as well and the temp. will be a bit warmer. There might be more rain but it doesn't last long.

If I were you I would completely avoid that President's week all together. We talked to a bunch of different people there from the north ( a lot from Boston). They were spending the entire week at WDW and not heading back home until that Saturday or Sunday.

make sure you pay attention to when mardi gras is. Because we went this year the last week of FEB and it was mardi gras and a TON of Louisiana people were there, groups from LSU crowding the parks. So just FYI. lol
