Seasons at WDW

Hi everyone!

I have a question for all you WDW fans out there.

Drum roll........What is your favourite time of year to visit WDW, and why??
Take into account:
- Park attendance levels
- Weather (hurricane season,etc.)
- Cost £$£$
- Special celebrations (Mickeys Halloween Party, for example).
My favourite season is Easter, (the Easter Parade, and the weather is not too warm!)

Also, if you could have any of the 4 theme parks closed so just you and your friends could be the only 'bodies' there, which one would you choose?!

Look forward to hearing your views.

My favorite time of year to visit WDW is winter. The crowds are down, the weather is nice, but more importantly I'm out out the Northeast's snow & freezing temps. :sohappy:

My park of choice would be the MK because it was the only park when I first visited WDW & has remained my favorite.

My favorite time to be in WDW is December, before the Christmas rush but definetly during Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party. The atmosphere is great and if you can go in early December the crowds are low.

As for my favorite park - that's a tie between the MK and Epcot.

I, too, prefer going in the late fall/winter, either the 2 weeks after Thanksgiving, or immediately following the New Year. Crowds are low, weather is still pretty nice (although one year it was in the 40's). I like all the Christmas decorations and the Osbourne Family Spectacle of Lights. I made the mistake of going over the summer (June.July) the past 2 trips, but had no choice because of others' schedules (school). Over the two-year span, which I spent a total of 18 days, it probably rained about 12-13 of them...and by "rain" I don't mean the brief afternoon shower...it RAINED for several hours, if not most of the day. Dispite the heat and the crowds, I think the rain really took away from the enjoyment of the trip.

Favorite Park - Animal Kingdom, probably becuase the animals are alot more realistic than the animatronics at the other parks.

My favorite time to go to Walt Disney World is in late April or Early May.

My wife and I both Love the Flower and Garden show.

After our long and cold Illinois winters, the warm and sunny Florida spring weather just seems wonderful.
It's warm in Early May, but it's not as humid or hot as it is in the summer months.

Although my favorite Park is EPCOT, I think if I could have one park to myself for one day I would choose The Magic Kingdom.

I could ride all the rides that normally have long lines without having to wait. ie Pooh, Snow White, Dumbo, Small World..etc.
I also think having Main street all to yourself would be awesome.
Imagine watching a parade going down Main Street just for you. :sohappy:

Christmas time. We moved back north last year around this time and really miss it. We were just down for Labor day, yes during the hurricane. I've been trying to plan a surprise trip back right before or after Christmas, but don't think it'll happen this year.

Without a doubt, late November, early December. Will never go any other time. But from the responses, this could become the busy time of year pretty soon. I guess the secret is out. As for having a park all to myself? Any of them. MK being my first choice though... :D

My favorite time to be there is Thanksgiving, and the week after. The parks are decorated, and after Thanksgiving, the parks are nearly empty. Unfortunatly, I have not yet experienced the Christmas Party. The park I would like to have to myself is EPCOT during the Christmas season, and Magic Kingdom any other time.

LateFeb/March - When you're really starting to get sick of the the snow/cold weather, but not so late that you miss the start of spring. Also, it is warm enough to swim in Orlando. Feb is a good time too, but it isn't always warm enough for (great) swimming.

Is the weekend directly after Thanksgiving as crowded as say a summer day at the height of summer attendance or is it just more crowded than normal like maybe Spring Break week? I have read on the other threads that the weekend after Thanksgiving is busy, but is it bearable? I find packed, summer attendance not to my liking, but spring break crowd increases are ok with me. I can handle a happy medium. :)

I would think that alot of folks would be leaving the weekend after Thanksgiving, to head home. Especially those with a two day drive. And even those who remain the extra day because they are flying; I still think it's more bearable than a hot, sunny day. Just to be in WDW with the Christmas decorations, the music, cooler weather than July and August; this would overcome any leftover crowd from Thanksgiving!

I honestly have to say that my favorite time is whenever I have the opportunity to go!

From a planning perspective, as a family we have usually gone in the spring, working around spring break and Easter (usually at the start of the price break). We have also gone a number of times in October. Temperatures and rainfall at these times is usually moderate, which is preferred.

I/we have never been in Dec. and do have that on the must do list (early Dec.)

I've been in early Nov. and winter, and it may sound strange, but it's too empty for me. A small wait in a themed queue is part of the fun, mixing with people and CM's is also part of the visit...empty parks somehow give the feeling of a nice, elaborate party that many guests didn't bother to show up for....

We tried the summer in 03 for the first time...on a whim and were surprised. Maybe it was the week, but with the exception of the heat and the daily deluge, parks were fine in the AM, Epcot even in the PM and we had a full visit.

Sorry that I couldn't answer the question....

I've been at WDW at the beginning of November and it was wonderful. Not crowded, 70 degrees the entire time, cheaper to go...it was nice.

And I would go with my friends and family to either Disney MGM or MK.
