A woman, with some seriously mad sewing skills, has been making very detailed and elaborate costumes for her young daughter to wear to Disneyland. The costumes, for the most part, look exactly like the ones worn by the actors and actresses. She's incredible, and her daughter has become very popular with the characters at Disneyland. Check out these sick costumes.

Knowing myself, I would have loved to have gone to Disneyland in these costumes as a little girl.

My mother-in-law & sister-in-law are super talented seamstresses. My sis-in-law made her 2nd daughter a spot-on Aurora gown maaaaany moons ago using high quality materials. Her 3rd daughter all but lived in that dress for a few years until she outgrew it. The mileage that thing saw was unreal. I've helped make several wedding gowns. Its a lot of work but not impossibly hard when you understand fabric and construction. I look at these and see the sum of the parts & steps. Definitely time consuming to make such detailed things. Takes lots of patience. I enjoyed the pics a lot. Very good work. Always fun to see!

The thing with sewing for $$ is you have to charge so much to make it worthwhile. I know people typically think sewing your own clothes is so much more economical but really it usually isn't. Decent quality fabrics and supplies are not cheap. For instance, my Disney rag quilt I made several years ago. It's the best lap quilt ever. Not bed-sized. I easily have $100 in fabric alone in that quilt and likely 80-100 hours work (I quilted each square with a Mickey silhouette, time consuming). Would you pay $200 for a lap-size rag quilt? I wouldn't sell it for that because my time would be at $1/hour. No freaking way. A detailed dress like this mom did I'd guess at $100 in materials minimum, likely more if she used high quality fabrics. I'd guess no less than 40 hours work from layout & cutting to finished dress. For more detailed outfits you could easily double that time. Even at 40 hrs think of what you earn in a week's time. Add $100 to that. How many people out there are going to pay that number for a dress for a child? This is why I've never been real thrilled at the idea of sewing custom for $$. I sew what I love for me & loved ones. I taught my sis-in-law how to sew a rag quilt vs. make her one.

Exactly, sewing your own clothes/blankets/quilts/etc. takes a lot of time and certainly a lot of money. I can only imagine how long it takes the mother to make all these dresses by hand. I wouldn't want to make multiple dresses for other girls, way too time consuming.

Yep. It's different when it's for someone you love. Most anything I've ever made since I was a little girl I gave away to someone I love. Paintings, drawings, ceramics, crocheting, sewing, etc. I enjoy the creating most when I spend my time working thinking of the person who will receive what I make. I made my boys costumes when they were toddlers and it was such fun!

That is some cool stuff right there!

I told my then 15year daughter last year on a DCL cruise I would buy her a Minnie Mouse dress from the ship's store if she wore it to dinner that night in the ship. I was kinda joking, thought she would say no. She said yes to my surprise, it was the best $45 I spent on the cruise, see was too cute in it! :)

I wish my sister would have gotten one of those dresses from my grandmother! She sews and it would have been amazing. And I would been able to meet the characters too! :D

Those were beautiful dresses. Actually, Disney has granted a license to one of the "big 4" dress pattern companies to market patterns for many of its princesses. You have to be a real Disney fan to notice the differences between the pattern and the dresses on screen/at DL-WDW, and a good seamstress to add those little details (as this mom obviously did). Yes, those looked like quality fabrics, not the cheap chintz and "satin-like" fabric that goes on sale before Halloween. Some of the notions needed, alone, would be expensive as well.

That is just the cutest thing. And she's just adorable! Amazing stitch job on those costumes...I can tell hours of work went into them (and lots of money) and tons of love.
