ScreamScape.com - Screamscape has been sent an interesting rumor that claims Disney’s Tri Circle D Ranch area, the nearby beach area along the lake and the former River Country property may all be planned to be leveled sometime next summer, to clear the site to make way for a brand new mega Disney resort project. Anyone else know more about this?

I kind of hope not. I love Ft. Wilderness and that area, and think it would affect that resort if they took over a portion of it to build a new resort.

I also think it would intrude on the "Wilderness" part of the Wilderness Lodge. They could do something with that area I'm sure, but I can't see them putting a resort there without ruining their 2 "wilderness" resorts.

I wish they would stop building resorts and start adding attractions or expanding the parks. Don't they have enough hotel rooms already?

Not really. The current capacity of the parks, DTD, water parks, etc far exceeds the available on property resort capacity.

That doesn't make any sense the Tri-Circle D ranch is all the way up at the front of fort wilderness and the lake and River country are all the way at the back. Not to mention why would they build one resort inside another resort. I could see them maybe adding cabins or rooms, but a standalone resort inside of another would be very confusing.

I was thinking the same thing. The areas mentioned are quite seperated.

I could see them expanding the the WL towards the RC area. That makes more sense to me.

I would agree. I could see an expansion to Ft Wilderness but not an entirely new resort. At most I could see an expansion that would mimic the situation at PORS and POFQ.

Different budgets. One does not directly effect the other.

I stand corrected, I was not aware of that fact. Do you know the actual room tally for the resorts and dvc's?

About 24,000.

The official total is just north of 25k, but that includes Vero Beach and Hilton Head, because they operate as part of WDW Resorts.

What ever it is I can promise you one thing, it will be DVC :D

DVC is doing poorly enough with its Animal Kingdom sales and has such an excess inventory that it has stopped exercising its ROFR on all properties except Beach Club Villas. I highly doubt any new DVC will be built in the immediate future.

That notwithstanding, I also doubt the veracity of this rumor for the same reason as others. The only thing I see being built in the near future is more family suites, and I think no more of those will be built until the Animation Resort is built and they can gather some reliable data from its bookings.

Just because AKL isn't selling as well as the others doesn't mean anything. With AKL its location. I wouldn't want to buy into DVC way out there. BVT sold out very quickly.

BVT? I assume you mean BLT? As of early July (the last reliable numbers I saw), BLT was just over 60% sold out of its declared inventory (86.67% declared), which means 26.67% of the declared units are still available.

Bay Lake Towers has not sold out. In fact, they are so hard up for people to buy into BLT that they extended the promotion that if you buy into BLT you get two years allotment of points this year.
A resort between Fort Wilderness and Wilderness Lodge has been on the table for a long time, called Wilderness Junction. If this resort is true, then it might just be dusted off plans coming back.

Of what I have been hearing is that BLT will be sold out within 18 months.

As far as the new resort goes or rumors of one, i think adding to the Wilderness Lodge and making a small water park for DVC members only would be a huge selling point.
