Screamscape gives rumored timeline when last LMA shows will be performed

I wouldn't be surprised if this was true since screamscape is pretty accurate with their postings for the most part. I didn't really care for this show and they only performed it like 2-3 times a day, so I'm not sad to see this go at all.

If construction plans are truly in the works for DHS, it will be interesting to see how serious the folks in Burbank will be about completing the project and opening the new attractions. As has been mentioned, they could push for much to be finished in two years or less.

They could push for it to be fast tracked, but they don't seem terribly motivated. Quite frankly, they don't seem motivated regarding any projects in Orlando. Dirt has yet to be moved for Avatar almost 2 years after the announcement. Hollywood Studios changes (whether Carsland or something else) have been rumored for well over a year now, and yet, nothing has been officially greenlit apparently. So no, I personally don't see corporate dealing with these projects with any sense of urgency.

Interesting. So now 2014 they will close LMA to begin prep work? It's starting to look like we may not see the DHS expansion this decade...

A project of this size would have to be built in stages. They can't just shut down half the park for several years. They will also have to inevitably spread the cost over several years to fit it into the budget.

Closing in 2014 means anything from 6-18 months from now. January would be AWESOME meaning that they are stepping on the gas for this thing.

However, they aren't at any stage yet. In fact, we don't even have confirmation anything has the greenlight yet for DHS. Universal is currently showing that projects can be up and off the ground in record time - if the appropriate drive is there to do it. If Universal can do it - there is absolutely no reason Disney can't. Everything Disney does today moves at a glacial pace - except DVC that is.

I just don't understand why so many people dislike LMA, I love this show!....these drivers are very talented and put on a fast paced high action show that can be seen in any movie. Why get rid of it? ... If this does go I hope they all move over to universal and start the FAST AND FURIOUS stunt show.

I think the dislike comes from it being a 30-minute show, with ~10 minutes of actual stunt action. I will admit it is cool the first one or two times, but I skip it altogether now.

I could see them waiting to start because of needing to finalize plans. We all know they will do something, but why not annouce it and just change it 300 times like new FL.. lol... They changed it a bunch.

With them spending all of the money for the LED lights on Osbourne, would they really close the Streets of America or would they retro-convert it for StarWars or Cars? It does generate capital. Personally Osbourne is nothing like it once was when we had the full streets and houses.

Personally I would not bring Cars to HS, I would expand on the Pixar Place that noone else has. You could easily get 5-6 rides out of it all. Not all have to be E ticket. JMO

I just wanted to highlight this. Very true. The reason the Magic Kingdom is so rich is the varied scale and types of attractions. It is layered. Epcot has this a little bit, but the other two parks are missing the infill attractions that really fill out an experience.

The exception is that IF you wait 20 years to add a ride to a park, it had better be an E-ticket.

I understand what you're saying but unless they build this thing overnight in a single night, they won't be able to do it all at once. All attendance jokes aside, DHS can't afford to have half of the park's square footage out of commission for any amount of time.

Staging the project does give them the opportunity to announce both stages, build one, and then hope we all forgot about the second stage and never build it or speak of it again.

Well, I know everything is speculation at this point, but... one year from now? I guess we might see Cars/Star Wars expansion before the decade is over...

Also, as impressive and skilled as the drivers in the show are, a lot of it ends up looking like cars doing ballet. Not intense or exciting like it should be, but maybe that's just me.
