Scooter rental info

Hey all!!!!

I am slowly now planning my first out of 19 past trips to wdw that I have a serious medical issue with a genetic disease that gave me liver disease. The diet part I have figured out with strict orders on sodium intake. I need to worry now about logistics of getting around. I am a robust 360lbs and 6'5 tall. One of the side effects I have from all this is heavy chronic fatigue. So just walking and doing a single ride can wipe me out for a day. Due to my size I am not going to ask any member of my party to push me around in a wheel chair. I was going to rent a scooter from a private company that seems the cheapest and best option so I can have it outside the parks. My thought is to Try to conserve what I can and get the most of a bad health situation.

Does anyone have any insight that can help me. I am a big guy so a scooter made for heavier folks is what I'm after

Scootarama is a decent website. They deliver to your resort. The larger scooters seem to go for about 40$ a day.
Scooter rental orlando.com is also another website. Shop around. Disney World scooters are 50$ a day.
care scooter rentals
buena vista scooter rentals
best price mobility
apple scooter
scooterbug

Good luck and have a great time at Disney World!:D

There are five Disney approved scooter rental companies that can deliver the scooter to the bell desk and are authorized to come to where you are in the parks and fix problems. They are Apple Scooters, Buena Vista Scooters, Scooter Bug, Care medical and Best price mobility. Others can set up a meeting to drop them off, but these are the only ones that can leave them at the bell desk and you can return them there. They can also come to you if something happens in the parks. I don't know about they others but Buena Vista and Apple both offer heavy duty options. Apple is slightly cheaper. I have used both and have been very happy with them both. One thing about Apple though is you can reserve your scooter online now, and provide them your credit card info 48 hours prior to your visit, the others will charge your card at the time you make your reservation. Hope this helps!

We have used Apple and never had any problems. If you own your own scooter bring that. Did you know you can ride it right up to boarding a plane and then they return it when you land to the plane door , and best of all there is no charge for the scooter? We have also done this and never had a problem with any airline. I just call them and let them know we are traveling with a scooter.

With Apple Scooter, is it possible to get a trailer hitch attachment to haul the scooter to and from the parks with? My mother has a medical condition that prevents her from walking for long periods of time (she can and wants to wait in lines though). We will be renting an SUV when we land in Orlando and I need to figure out how to haul the ECV to each park.

has anyone rented from best price or buena vista? i'm looking at portable ones for trunk transport and they look uncomfortable. i have hip and foot issues and don't want my legs to be cramped - are they 'roomy' enough?

My Dad has rented from Buena Vista, and infact rented the one you can break down . We were very pleased with their product and service.

I would suggest renting one of the portable ones that can easily be broken down to fit in an suv.

Apple also has scooters that break down and the sections are not heavy. Its very easy to do. If the weight is a little over its not a problem it just uses the battery up slightly faster. My husband's scooter said 250lbs and he was 275 and had no problems.
