Scooter rental help for teen w/chronic illness

Our 18 year old daughter has been invited by her friend’s family to go with them on a 2-week WDW vacation the end of July-August.

She REALLY wants to go. The challenge: She has Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS) - and she’s going during the hottest time of year.

We must rent her a scooter for the 2 weeks they are there (I think it may cost more than her airfare?!).

We need it delivered to the hotel, hoping she can charge it at night and use it everyday in the parks.

*** Looking for recommendations for a scooter rental company.*** Someone told me that only one company is allowed to deliver to the hotels (but they didn’t know which one).

Looking for someone affordable. I read that if you rent from Disney it’s $60/day?!?

I've used Gold Mobility on my last couple of trips. Was $230 for a week's rental each time, with a damage waiver included. You'll have to meet them at the resort for drop-off and pickup. They will text you the day before drop-off and pickup to confirm times. I haven't had any problems with them. On time for drop-off and pickup.

Their scooters last the whole day for me battery-wise, and that's being in the parks from open to close.

Yes - Scooter Bug.

I have had great experiences renting from Scooter Bug for my father in law. One time, his scooter battery was draining quickly and they brought him a new scooter while he was in his hotel room resting. We just left it with bell services before his nap, and then picked up the new one from bell services after his nap. We've never had to use it, but they will even come into the parks to bring you a new scooter or new battery if yours is giving you trouble.

Since she is going at the end of July/ early August - you might consider renting the sunshade for her as well - my father in law loves having one.

Yes - I’m working on convincing her about the sunshade. Lol!

In the summer, those black seats can get so hot in the sun - if she's wearing shorts it could burn the back of her legs! She'll at least need to bring a small scarf or blanket to cover the seat. :)

I just checked Scooterbug's website and it looks like it's about $350 to rent a scooter with a shade from 28 July to 11 August. Not the best, but also not too bad!

I recommend Buena Vista Scooters. I have used them for years when they had the contract to deliver to Bell Services. I never had a problem with battery life or the condition of the scooters. Yes, they no longer deliver to Bell Services---I heard that Scooterbug was the low-bidder for that contract---- but in my opinion and experience, meeting the scooter delivery person is a small price to pay for the peace of mind of a decent machine. Because of the convenience of having the scooter delivered to Bell Services, I went with Scooterbug on my most recent trip. The machine was falling apart and never held a charge. The "Customer Service" person told me to find a charger in the park, probably by the restrooms, and an hour charge time would give me a half-hour of run time. WHAT? Spend an hour in the BATHROOM in the park just to get enough juice to get out of the park? When the scooter couldn't even get up the ramp onto a Disney bus, that was the last straw. It was Day 2 of an 11-day stay on-property--- I cancelled my reservation and took delivery of a beautiful brand-new Buena Vista Scooter. I've also heard great things about Gold Mobility. But DO NOT use Scooterbug! I never will use them again!
