Sci Fi Restuarant

We just ate at the Sci Fi in January. Some cars have front and back seats. Each seat seats 2 or 2 adults and a very small child. Some cars have tables in the car running lengthwise. These tables seat 4 or 6 people, I am not sure. There are also just regular tables in the back of the restaurant. They look like round patio tables with umbrellas. There are about 5 or 6 of these regular tables. Hope this helps.

I never realized this, but apparently you can get PS for particular tables types at Sci-Fi. When I made a PS for this May there, the CM told me that she was all out of cars for the time I wanted and had tables only.

Never knew that.

They have both cars and a few picnic tables with umbrellas in the back. What a great atmosphere. We ate there for the first time last week. Good food, excellent milkshakes.:slurp:

Heading for the great escape.
Despite all the negative things Ive read about this place in various guidebooks i love it. yes its a burger n fries type of place but the setting makes it almost an attraction.

We love this place too. We've eaten there twice and have no problem going back anytime we visit MGM. It's just fun! I do know that they have both cars and tables. Normally I notice bigger groups at the tables, but I don't know if that has anything to do with who gets what. We've always gotten a car. And yes indeed...the milkshakes are the best! So thick they sometimes get caught in the straw!

I love SFDI too but the last time I went there I realized why it gets as much negative press as it does:

It sells supposedly "upscale" food that is (to be frank) mostly terrible. I had so many capers (ick) on the Shrimp Alfredo platter I ordered that I had to set it aside.
The Burger platter is great but it's a footnote on their menu.

Sci-Fi (if I may be so bold) SHOULD sell more varieties of burgers and hot dogs and the typical Drive-In fare. It would be a definite improvement AND be in keeping with the restaurant's theme. I think the biggest problem with Disney doing this is that more people looking for simple food will come in for burgers and shut the Die-Hards out.

But that's just my two-cents.
Oh -- I absolutely agree with another poster: Their milkshakes are FANtastic!

We love it! It's the one place we go every time we're there.

As for your question, last time we were there, they told us we could wait 20 minutes or go right in and sit at a "Picnic table" in the back. The views not as good, and the tables (at least the one we got for 2) are tiny, but the lack of wait and lack of anyone's hair hanging in our ice cream made it worth it.

I wasn't impressed with the food. The atmosphere was really nice, but the food was nothing to brag about. I was much happier at other restaurants for the same price.

Disney Studios (That's what Disney is calling it on its Vacation Planning DVD these days!) is no match for EPCOT (Center) when it comes to fine dining. Sci-Fi is a great place to get away from the heat of the day and cool off in a darker, very well themed "retro" setting. I love it - for lunch!

I'd feel like I'd missed out if I got stuck with a table instead of a car, though. Hold out for the car, preferably the front seat!
