That would be an absolute mess. We have had enough trouble with them messing up our reservation the last two times they don't need a middle man help them out. Heck our reservation for next year is messed up now and we have to try and clear that up.

Don't Blame Me, I Voted for...

hey, didn't one of those businessmen discuss a plan to keep jobs in america when he became president?

oh, yeah. it was the guy who lost.

well, at least we can feel safe from terrorism... whoops!

I would like to see the whole thing move to the web. Not unlike the dell site, where you first pic whaqt you want and then build it up into a custome peice of equipmet. What if you could do that with your vacation>

If they can do it to disneydirect, then they can also do it to CRO. If a union was just voted down, then I see that as the perfect time to start the ball rolling on outsourcing because no union protection would exist.

And you aren't doing the same by calling his remarks "foolish retoric" (sic.)?

It's rhetoric, btw. ;)

Oh, don't get started with that whole union argument again. Believe me when I say that the union doesn't solve any problems, and I firmly believe that all unions at WDW should be forced to use the motto.... "WDW Unions: Ruining the Magic... since 1971."

I have no idea where you got your information but you are incorrect. CRO is NOT closing (I just finished working an 8 hour shift today). What you are refering to is DisneyDirect or Disney Catalog call center which will close as of 02/01/06. They did handle some overflow calls (ie dining) for CRO. The call center took in less than 10% of sales for Disney Direct. Cast Members at the Catalog have been given the chance to interview for postions that are currently open (CRO is currently hiring) and transfer down from Kansas City.
So Disney is trying to take care of their cast members; while trying to make the best money wise decisons for Disney Direct.

Let me re-post what MEBSTinkerbell posted....

The Disney Reservation Center is NOT closing, it is expanding! What is closing is one of the offices (in Kansas City, Missouri) for DisneyDirect.com / Disney Catalog. During peak times only, they did handle some overflow calls for us, and as a result ALL of those Cast Members will be given the oppotunity to transfer to Florida if desired. This change will have no impact on your Disney Vacation or your ablility to make reservations directly with American Disney Reservation Agents. We will continue to have overflow call centers in Huston and Salt Lake City, and the 2 main Florida centers are currently adding more cast. If you are interesting in a position go to www.disneycareers.com for more information or to summit your resume!

Hope this puts your mind at ease! :sohappy:

DisneyDirect is not being outsourced. They are being closed. About 90% of orders for DisneyDirect are being made online with only about 10% being made by phone. Thus there is no reason to keep the DisneyDirect phone lines open.

If they are closing the Disney Direct call center then who would you call with problems with your order or if you need to ask questions, etc? I would assume that there would need to be someone. Are they having CRO take over calls for Disney Direct?

I worked at CRO for 3 years, and there are FAR more than 200 cast members who work there (Probably over 1,000).

I'll check with the friend and see exactly WHICH call center she works in

As if enough hasn't been said about CRO NOT closing, I live near Tampa and just this week saw local ads about CRO in Tampa hiring for positions in the call center. But I get another post out of this, so why not add more to an already dead horse? :p
