Saving Mr. Banks. Going to see it or not?

I'll be seeing it but with the knowledge that a lot of the film is fictionalized. Robert Sherman's son did a great write up on Facebook about how flawed this film is when it comes to the facts.

I think I would've settled for a full length documentary about the making of the film.

And yet the film was made with consultation (including on set consult) with Richard Sherman and Diane Disney.

Here's an interesting write up...

we're seeing it Christmas day

Very, very excited for it. But I gotta say, judging by the trailer, I'm disappointed cause I feel like Tom Hanks didn't even try on Walt's voice.

He did, very much so. But, he was going for Walt when Walt wasn't playing Walt.

He was given access to candid video / recordings by Diane Disney while studying for the role.

In his own words, the way Walt spoke on TV (or public speeches, etc) isn't the same as when he was out of the limelight. He tried to capture that. He specifically talked about the difficulty of getting down the cadence Walt had...

Look at the interviews I posted earlier, he addresses this in them.

I definitely want to see it. Interested to see how it ends. Especially knowing what PL Travers opinion of the film was...

But yeah the wife and I are very interested in seeing it.

Can you copy that and post it here? I have no idea how to find it without being his "friend," and I cannot see FB at work anyway (where I see this board sometimes on a break).

By the way, I really liked the movie that the Sherman brothers' sons made together about them. It was excellent, I thought.

I have heard the same as well. I have sneak preview passes for tomorrow and I am going to it expecting a work of romanticized fiction and not a factual representation of history.

Jeffery Sherman (with the help of social media) was able to attend last night's premiere. His review was quite complimentary and he said they did a great job despite the factual errors. That eased my concerns a bit.
