Just wondering what others do to save for a Disney vacation? I have my own way of doing it, but its not always practical to me! Please let me know what you guys do? Tax return money? Paying a little each month, doing work from home type stuff online? Garage sales? Any info would be insightful!

We need time for things to happen.
Quote..Frank Sinatra.." And now,the end is near.I'll say goodbye,to my pal Mickey.I'll fight that final tear,I know I know,it will be tricky. We've been to every park, and sailed the boats, across the big bay.Much more, much more than this.I did it my way...Yes they were times,I'am sure I knew, when I bit off, more than I could chew. But through it all, when there was doubt.I tried that leg,but spit it out.I done it all,I had a ball. I did it my way." ;)

He will sit at home on his computer, see all the fun we're having, and say ... Wht the heck was I thinking????
His wife will have to get him into treatment immediately cause it's very, very hard to get off that Disney addiction once you've got it.
He'll have Disney nightmares where all the Characters will appear in his dreams calling him baaaack.
We all will keep e-mailing him Disney ads and send him post cards from the parks saying... Wishing you were here until he breaks down and gets his head back on straight.

Oh I'll keep chirping in on the WDW site..;) Ive made so many friends on his site,I could never say goodbye..

We would miss you too Hatter..;) For the record, If something ever made me not go the World anymore I wouldn't hang around here with you nuts, I love you guys but it would drive me crazy. I have a feeling it would be something similar to being the only sober person at a party.

Alright let's not get ahead of ourselves we still have a while to see how this whole "Hatter quits WDW" thing plays out -- for now I'll pour you a gran marnier slushie, we'll do a bump of that pixie dust and let's get nice.

We said that six trips ago and yet we fly out next Thursday to visit once again. For some reason my children really have never outgrown it, only grown to experience different things each time we go.

We have a Disney jar where we throw our loose change as well as a lot of $1 & $5 bills (along with the occasional $10 & $20). Any money we find gets thrown in there as well. We have a Disney Rewards Visa and use it to pay for all of our expenses and pay it off each month. We also have a Chase Freedom card that earns rewards (we choose to get a lump sum of cash before our trip but there are other options for redeeming the rewards). That card has bonus categories every quarter -- those pay an extra 5% in rewards (for a total of 6%). This quarter it's gas, amusement parks, and Kohls, so we'll use that card for purchases in those categories for this quarter and everything else will go on the Disney Visa. I also buy Disney gift cards at least once a month -- usually in $25 or $50 amounts. All of those things combined contributed about $3000 to our trip last month (accumulated in 2 years). The balance of the trip just comes out of our "fun money" savings account (which is usually funded by tax returns and DH's yearly bonus).

Well this week we decided that Oct 2015 will be our next trip ( most likely our last :( ).So mission Mickey has started..We always save the UK £2.00 coin into our Disney savings bank,it's surprising how they add up..I also have a monthly target I try to keep too. This morning ( Friday ) I'am off to a value selling auction this morning at a local hotel..I have 8 Lord of the Rings figurines in Royal Doulton I'am hoping to sell..There value is around $1000 and also hoping to sell a Tag Heur watch that I hardly ever wear,it's value is also around $1000.. I also do the garage kinda thing over here, but it's thro a local site on the web..;)
Oh Hatter I hope it isn't your last trip :(

We opened a vacation club account at our bank and have an automatic deposit go in to it every paycheck. Out of site money out of mind. Then when ever there is any overtime pay at work half of it goes into that account if not all of it. We also have a change jar. All birthday, and anniversary's we ask for Disney gift cards. Also take some of our income tax return but not all of it. We book the room and make payments every month from the vacation account not using all the money in it. We also have a Disney Visa and before we leave for Disney we transfer the points to the rewards card. I try to do something every month toward the trip.

All my change adds up to about $15-20 each month. I also try to set aside $10 each week. In the past I've sold items on EBAY, and such. For a trip about 9 years ago I used my insurance settlement to pay for most of the trip costs. If our trip for this late fall comes about, we will just take from savings any extra that we need that my coin and cash savings don't cover. I do plan on getting some Disney gift cards at our Kroger to save on gas for the trip down. I bought a SUN PASS back in 2011 to mostly save time at the toll booths, but I do save a little cash using it.

I'm a nanny so I can pick up extra shifts for babysitting on the weekend. Where I live you can make a lot of money babysitting. We usually put bday and Christmas money towards it. And this year, we are really scaling back on gifts to each other b/c there is nothing we need. So we are putting some money towards Disney. But I just budget it out. What do i need to do on a weekly basis to pay it off. And I pay a little bit each week. Its not a perfect plan but it sort of works. :)
