Hey there, hi there ho there WDW Magicketeers...

This is inspired from a previous thread about the merits of dining at the Plaza Restaurant. The general consensus was that the food is simple but good, and definitely not worth using a Dining Plan Table Credit, at least on the regular dining plan.

So I thought it might be nice to compile a list of the lesser expensive restaurants (or less expensive items in other restaurants) you all might like, to use that table credit somewhere else, like a Signature restaurant or other more expensive meals you don't intend to go to at dinner time (like the Princess Breakfast at Epcot - that's still one credit, right?).

Aside from the Plaza I had suggested stuff like Trail's End at FW, Kona Cafe at Poly, and Grand Floridian Cafe. Sci-Fi's not too expensive, either, especially if you're getting a burger/sandwich and maybe splitting a dessert (burgers and a split dessert is actually a good way to save a credit in any restaurant, actually).

What are your recs?

Great idea! We always have to pay for a few out of pocket; Deluxe is way too much for us and Basic not enough.

I agree on Kona Cafe and Sci Fi for sure!

Great idea Slap! I've thought about this on several occasions after eating at a TS. Man, I would have rather saved that TS and paid out of pocket!

#1 for me is Wolfgang Puck Cafe. Not to be confused with express at the Marketplace. Cafe... Service left a lot to be desired, steak was marginal at best. Certainly would have been better saving the credit, and using a QS at Wolfgang Express.

#2 Mayan Grill. Made a special trip to Coronado just to eat here. While overall everything was decent, in hindsight I'd have been better off saving the TS

Save yourself 2 table service credits at the castle. It stings to pay out of pocket. But it is a terrible waste of credits on the dining plan.

I try to use my TS credits on places I wouldn't normally eat at ...places out of my price range like Le Cellier, Maya Grill, Coral Reef, 1900 Park Fare. This way, if I'm disappointed, it's not money out of my pocket (yes, I know it really is OoP but my mind likes this rationalization). I looked at the menus and selected places where my travel mates could get the steaks they liked, like the filet at Le Cellier. This worked out good for us as the teens got to eat at nice restaurants whereas my budget would've had us eating QS the whole trip.

Dont use QS credit for Earl of Sandwich......like 6.95 for a sandwich....totally easier to pay OOP and use QS for something like flame tree or cosmic rays.

I don't use snack credits for water or other drinks. I always bring a case of water with me and save snack credits for things like Dole Whips, cupcakes at the Starring Rolls bakery, and samples at the Food and Wine Festival.

Also, I disagree about Kona for dinner. The NY Strip that I love is $28.99 so definitely a great use of a dining credit. I wouldn't use a dining credit to eat breakfast or lunch there though.

Thanks Slappy! Great idea!!

I agree with your choices of Kona Cafe, GF Cafe, and the Plaza. I would also add Beaches and Cream.

I agree with the poster who mentioned snack credits. Awhile ago, someone compiled a list of getting more bang for your buck with snack credits. And sine then, I never use them for drinks, fruit or ice cream bars. I go for bigger items, like dole whips and bakery items.
