Ask for Congress Park. There's a quiet pool, brief walk to main pool/rec center/main building and closest walk to dtd marketplace.

Artists' Palette is ok, but you're better off getting counter service meals at dtd marketplace, especially if you're in congress park.

Sage a night for dinner at turf club and a movie by the pool.

I agree with Slappy on Congress park. Stayed there on my only stay and liked the proximity. Enjoy your stay!

SSR- is our home resort-

Last Nov. we stayed in the Grand Stand section and we actually liked it, there was a small play area, quite pool right outside our building. Also the bus stop was right there. When we have tried to get in Congress Park it we were never able to get anything available and that seems to be the busiest section.

We have friends who also like Grand Stand, seems a bit more private.

Thanks guys, keep it coming!

I ate in the Turf Club once a few years ago and seem to remember it was very nice. It's my new BFs first trip to the US let alone the magic of WDW so I'm keeping everything crossed he has a magical trip!

Duly noted, Grand Stand or Congress Park

We stayed in a studio at the Carousel the two times we stayed there. We thought it worked out nice. Turf club was rather nice too.

I'd also have to choose Congress Park. We've stayed at SSR 5 times since June 2007 and all but one time have been in Congress Park. The quiet pool has a great view of DTD. I would however avoid the 1101-1436 villas, while they are the closest to DTD, they are also next to the nature trails, and the bugs tend to swarm around those buildings more at night.

(Just a quick tip, after a day in the parks, take a 15 min dip in the whirlpool. You'll sleep better and wake up more refreshed the next morning!)

We're also staying at Saratoga, and I'd be interested in any more tips for staying there....e.g. transportation to shopping malls, outlet malls, Walmart etc... We're not planning on hiring a car and wanted to know how easy it is to get to the shops.

Hi Joanne66

I have got a cab to the Premium Outlets and it cost about $8 on way. The bus is pretty easy to get to I Drive with costs about $2 per person each way.

We stayed in a dedicated 2 bedroom at the Paddock on our very first DVC trip, although our building was right next to the bus stop the hike to the main pool wasn't the most enjoyable, especially with little kids with us. We also had some trouble with the busses at the time but I've heard that they've since been fixed.

Otherwise the resort was great, theming is really nice, our room was practically brand new and we loved the main pool. I would just request a building in Congress Park or close proximity to the pool.

That's why the quiet pool at the Paddock is being replaced with a new theme pool and quick service restaurant. There are some artist concept drawings on here as well as other sites, including Disney's.

Heading for the great escape.
I hated Congress Park, it was a gated retirement community, theres more fun in a morgue and a better atmosphere. The unit we had was pretty tired, and apart from the convenience of the bus stop had very little to entice me back again. Parking was dog eat dog as we went at Thanksgiving and the car park was full.

Thought the Grandstand looked better. Certainly had a more vibrant feel anytime we passed through. Food court still has to be one of the worst at Disney.

For me Id rather stay anywhere than SSR its just not Disney enough for me, though Im giving the treehouse a go this trip. :dazzle:

Last time I stayed we had a nice view of Downtown Disney and it was closest to Marketplace. I would assume the building would be the same as what everyone else is refering to. The lights of DTD were very nice at night but the lights nor the sounds were disturbing enough to prevent us from relaxing and sleeping. Was very nice and one of my favorite resorts.

Well I'm back from WDW and had a great time but had a few Mousekeeping issues. 6 nights at Kidani but when we walked into our studio there were things on the balcony from the previous guests, the coffee maker was not cleaned from the last time it was used, DVD remote was buried behind the sofa, no shower gel. I told the front desk and my DVC rep. other than that Kidani was lovely, Saratoga was better, we were in The Paddock right next to the pool. But no DVD remote at all! We did have a fab view of the lake however. All in all, I wouldn't stay at Saratoga again just because of its sheer size and I will be going again on my own. Kidani to me just felt cosier and more "Disney".

Having said that I have only stayed at two DVC properties so far so we'll see!

I vote for Congress Park. Close to DTD, quiet pool, quiet area. Very serene and nice to escape to after the hustle and bustle of the parks.

Funny, we have had Mousekeeping issues at AKL before as well - for us it was room ready late, not fully cleaned, things missing.

Anyway, we head to SSR on Friday. First time there since it was the Institute. Hoping things will go well!
