FYI:
Figment becomes a skunk which sprays the riders with a foul odor (which is actually a coffee smell).

why would dr. nigel be upset with figment if he sprayed a pleasant smell?
Why would the Imagination Institute focus all their energies on the 5 senses and not a single bit on Imagination itself? Furthermore, why do we need an attraction where Dr. Channing is upset at Figment at all?

Because He states that Figment is a "Recent Discovery"...What? Was he hiding in a Janitor's closet the whole time under some boxes?:joyfull:

Some time ago there was a interesting write up by a fan on a website somewhere regarding their personal interpretation of the 'story' present in the currant 'Imagination' ride through attraction.
I remember coming across it some years ago...and i found their take on the plot line of the ride interesting.

There impression was it was a statement about the currant status of the company's creative division vs. the corporate heads.
Specifically, Imagineers more creatively orientated goals in conflict with the more materialistic 'corporate suits' goals.
Dr. Nigel Channing represented Corporate.
Figment represented the Imagineers.

As you go though the story during the ride, you see Dr. Channing ( Corporate ) try to reign in creative free-flowing entity Figment (Imagineers) in several scenarios throughout the course of the ride experience.
Dr. Channing is constantly putting Figment down...shooing him away..and Figment is portrayed as somewhat annoying and difficult to control.
This was seen as a sly satire of Corporate heads perceived 'annoyance' with dealing with certain creative divisions, specifically Imagineering.

Figment in turn keeps trying to push Dr. Channing to see things his way, in his imaginative light, and realize that creative goals can end up being something worth pursuing.
Thus , Figment was seen as a satire of Imagineer's perceived 'trying to convince the uppers of a concept' with dealing with certain Corporate heads.

There is a clash there....and Dr. Channing keeps trying to 'capture and control' imagination while Figment wants to 'set it free'.

Yeah, it was a interesting take on the story.
Certainly added some depth there when looking at it with the above perspective...whether intended by the designers or not!

Apparently the backstory/queue of JIYI explained that Figment popped out of that stupid Imagination Scanner (so if anything, it's more like a portal) that Channing built and thus like Edison or Columbus, Channing took credit for discovering something that had already been discovered.
