Did somebody say Flip Flops?

To me that's like mentioning the Susquehanna Hat Company:lol:
Slowly, I turned...
Flip flops. Not that anyone asked me, however...
Soap box rant about flip flops is below.

<hr style="color: rgb(19, 83, 179);" size="1"> <!-- / icon and title --><!-- message -->I can't stand flip flops while in the parks or restaurants. At a pool, beach, water park, fine. Even at a hotel, fine. You might be on the way to the pool.
Yeah, they might be comfortable, but they are really pushing the line too close to being barefoot. That, and the sound they make. Man-o-man! Makes me cringe. It's like fingernails on a blackboard.:dazzle:
I have no problem with open-toed shoes.
If you can look at your own feet and say "Yeah, people should stare at my very nice toes while in line" in complete confidence, then fine. By all means put on open toed anything, (except flip flops) and go to town.
If, on the other hand, anyone has ever suggested or it has entered your mind at all that you should not wear open toe anything on those nasty foot claws of yours, please do the rest of the world a favor and cover 'em up when out in public besides the places mentioned above as OK.
What's wrong with sandals if you want open and airy? Leather, plastic, cloth, rubber, they come in all kinds of nice acceptable styles at very affordable prices, but can clearly not be called flip flops. If you work in any kind of professional environment where there's a chance you could be seen in public or by a client or other visitor, I'd be willing to bet flip-flops are a no-no.
There is a reason for that.
If you can afford to go to Disney, you can afford to put something on your feet nicer than flip-flops. It's up there with "shirt and shoes required for service", even though it mihgt not be written anywhere.
Flip flops also come off by accident much more often. When was the last time you've seen anybody's shoes or genuine sandals just come off compared to flip flops.
Yes, flip flops are allowed in the parks in that they are not banned, but they just should not be worn in certain places as mentioned.

I guess I've just seen too many people in public recently in flip flops and hair curlers. If you're going to go out in public, please have a little decorum. Just a little. Please? If we all pitch in in this little matter, I promise all our experiences at WDW will be much nicer.
I also can't think of a real medical reason for flip flops as a priority that a slightly loose sandal wouldn't accomplish if you want to go the route of a medical excuse.

I will never step on someone's foot on purpose who is wearing flip flops. That's just mean and inconsiderate.
I've worn my nice black, shiny paratrooper boots all day in the park while wearing long pants. If something does happen, I will of course, apologize.
How I will really feel about it?......................:D.

Does anyone else have the same feelings about these insults to the term "footwear" called flip flops?

I disagree on so many levels... first of all - if find is sooo very funny that you wear black paratrooper boots in the parks - and say we have "little decorum" for wearing appropriate outdoor wear... aka... flip flops....

Secondly, i'm sorry that you feel our choice of footwear would make your experience at disney better... it is sooo weird.

Thirdly, an insult to footwear in my opinion would fall in the boot catagory to an amusment park - certainly not flip flops...

And lastly - obviously i love my flops - and wear them daily to the parks... but then again... I have cute feet and like my toes - so for me flip flops are just another form of expression.

Here's a link to the world's most comfortable (IMHO) flip flops... :) I have them in many colors and styles - but have 2 favorites... they last nearly forever... and have tons of support... I highly recommend these to anyone who enjoys wearing flops for 12 hour days of walking!

How many threads are we going to have on this????
Read the other two and you will find a whole bunch of brand names listed that people like.
Thanks so much for popping into a thread you have no interest in to be a jerk. Just don't click on it if you don't want to read it, genius. All you did was bump it back to the top. Thanks! :)

This trip is my first venture into wearing sandals at the parks all day. My feet swell up pretty badly and sneakers were giving me blisters. I got a pair of Earth Shoes sandals at Wal-Mart. They are very soft and I've had little problem with them. I think they were about $12. They come in an orange and green box. Just look in the shoe aisle at Wal-Mart. They look like they are geared to hippies so they were perfect for me.

I also wore my Moss flip-flops to Downtown Disney, but they didn't provide as much support. Those came from Target; they come in pink, brown, and beige and have a little owl on the heel part. $10.

I will definitely be bringing my tennies and socks in Sept, but I will also add in my crocs and Birkies (if there is room)! My crocs are sooo comfy at work--I work in a veterinary office and on my feet 10 hrs/day, wrestling with big dogs, etc. My leg and back pain stopped after wearing Crocs. They are lightweight, colorful, and clean up easily with Lysol or soap and water; they are dry in no time! I love these shoes!

I'm not too far from a Six Flags amusement park and i always wear flip flops when i go there. I got mine for like 10 bucks at a department store and they are sooo comfy. I was a little weary on wearing them to my upcoming trip to disney, but now i know i wont feel like an "outsider" if i do.

Everyone finds different footware comfortable. For me it's sneakers, but I buy good ones, easy spirit, reebok, etc. no skips since they have no support. I don't like sandals very much as my feet are always cold, so unless it is 100 degrees, I won't be thinking of wearing them. I don't like that if it rains, my feet get wet and black with dirt and when at WDW it's not like you're going to pop back to the hotel to just wash your feet.

Granted flip flops are not generally appropriate wear for restaurants, but WDW anything pretty much goes, just look at the clothing that is worn, some of that too wouldn't generally be acceptable in a restaurant if it were not in WDW. Flip flops really are meant for the beach.

I wore my $3 Old Navy flip flops for the majority of the week :p

Me too! I think I brought them in almost every color!:)

Also, I don't think flip flops are that inappropriate. Most flip flops aren't that different from dressy sandals; they're just without the beads and frippery (I like that word) that adorns most of the nicer pairs. And seriously? After what I see some people wearing in the parks, I would wear flip flops into the fanciest place on earth, rather than wear that. By "that," I mean:

Halter tops or tube tops where your are about to fall out. If we wanted to see them, we'd ask.

Shorts where most of the butt cheek is visable.

Pants or shorts where we see thong, butt cheeks, and very little pant. (That is just nasty.)

Alright, I'm done now.

I'll concede to that 4 sure - it hurts 20x more if your bare toes get run over by a double stroller with two six year olds in it. (No, of COURSE I'm not speaking from experience :~) But I continue to wear them for my feet - they feel more free...however stupid that sounds. :)

Reefs baby! I buy them at a local surf store. All I wear most of the time. I get a new pair every year for about 35 bucks, but it's well worth it!

I've worn my Sketcher sandles for a few years now with no problems at all. I feel they give my less problems with "sore feet" than my socks and sneakers. Plus the Sketchers give you real good support!!

Teva's are the best. But I'm also partial to the Teva Mush flip flops. Sooo comfortable and only like 19.99. I wear mine all the time in the warm weather.

I wear my Tivas as much as possible. I even wear them to the water parks, because the cement is too hot for my feeties

Socks tend to give me blisters, so the Socks and Sneakers are saved for a cooler day, when Sandles will just make me freeze.

I wore Flip Flops to DL and was perfectly comfortable. Just make sure the part that goes between your toes isnt too big or hard, or you will find blisters there in the morning
