Someone told me that when we go to Disney World we should wear either Teva sandals or Nike Straprunners. Anyone had any experiences with these? :p

Well where are you wearing them. Don't wear anything but broken in Sneakers to the parks otherwise you'll be in pain. To the water parks you can wear them though.

Actually, I wear Sandals all the time. The air helps keep the feet cool. I find that I get blisters from teh heat with socks and sneakers. My wife also wears sandals. I woudl advise a good pair with arch support, etc.

Ummmmm Sandals? Sure if you want to kill your feet! sure they keep your feet cool but you'll be doing ALOT of walking...your best bet is a pair of broken in sneakers that youe already comfortable with. Sure bringing a pair of sandals is just fine but I wouldnt wear them to do all your day time walking around the parks.

I have never worn sandals to WDW, mainly because of going in December these past couple of years.

I wore my broken-in Reeboks...actually I brought two pairs, for walking in the parks, and only one pair of casual/semi dress shoes for other occasions.

This past trip, however, I did get blisters, where my socks rubbed the bottom of one particular toe (the same toes on each foot)

That was about three days into a 5 day trip...and the first time I had ever gotten blisters walking around the parks.

I usually just wear my shoes from marching band season, I know that they are comfortable, and won't give me blisters, so go find your pair of tie-up athletic shoes from marching band :hammer:

I was in the TEVA craze back years ago, I got a pair of the expensive things. I wore them all summer. They are great for everyday at WDW.

When I did do the parks, I never wore them, I always wore the new sneakers.

The only problem I did have was at the end of the summer they smelled horrible and I had to trash them. Never have worn sandals again.

I always wear my Birkenstock sandals when I go to WDW (actually everywhere). I have not had any problems with them. It all depends on what you are used to. If you are not used to wearing sandals every day then you will have problems. When I first started wearing them they really put a strain on a few of my muscles. Now I wouldn't even think of wearing any other kind of shoe. But that is just my preference. If you do wear sandals make sure that you use sunscreen - one that you have tested before your trip. I had a slight allergic reaction on my feet from the sunscreen I used. The odd thing was that it did not bother me at all on my arms or legs.

umm, well,

it all depends on how much time you want to spend washing your feet LOL I wore a pair of adidas adilettes (the plain footbed, three striped, $30 styles) once over the summer and it was kind of refreshing until my feet started to get dirty - I ended up using paper towels like a washcloth about mid-morning, and I went back to the hotel room about 4 and took them off (went out to eat @ flying fish - not exactly proper attire there!) Really though, you can't beat a fairly beat-up, comfotable pair of sneaks.

My husband tried the sandal thing last trip and his feet hurt. I always wear my Rykas, as they are made specifically for a woman's foot.

i always wear my "reef" sandals, i wear them alot anywhere and disney is no exception, the only problem is water. If i get the reefs wet my feet slide too much and i get blisters.the only thing that sucks is if you wear them on sunny days your tan feet have white stripes! I've worn docs to the parks when its cold but they are too stiff and they don't breath so if its cold out i go like everyone else ...busted out tennis shoes.

I vote for the sneakers.....comfortable McgGreggor or Penn shoes from K-Mart or WallMart do the trick quite well... No break in time and the price is right....Sandals are ugly!

i don't wear anything but sandles unless I'm working cause it's not apart of the Disney look. My feet have gotten really calased over though from doing it.

Well, I think you should wear whatever shoes are most comfortable, whether they be sandals, sneakers,or something else! I personally do Birkenstocks a lot...I find them very comfortable, even walking long distances. But, if you don't wear Birkenstocks a lot at home, don't expect them to be comfy at WDW!!!! Another thing I like to do is change my shoes at some point. We usually go to the parks for a while, come back to the resort to relax, and continue with the evening's activities. Usually I'll change my shoes at the break there. You'd be surprised what a difference that makes!
