Lots of posts on this so search too...

Food is decent; atmosphere is excellent though somewhat dark. Ask for a table next to the river. Specialty is a pork entree. Typical Mexican fare. Not too overpriced. Free chips and salsa on every table.

They very recently changed the menu, fyi.

A number of people who have been there since the menu change have reported back that it's improved greatly.

As far as atmosphere, I like it. It's my sister's favorite restaurant, based on setting/theme alone. It's a little cramped, but the high ceiling and overall expansive space makes it feel less overwhelming.
If you're picky, ask for a seat by the river.

The atmosphere is one of the best at WDW, but the food is just average, some would say below average. The atmosphere is enough to make up for the average food in my opinion. Plus the have some good margaritas.

ADR's a must.
Wait staff is very good and most helpful.
Bring a flashlight to read the menu.

A must visit every time we go.

I think San Angel gets a bad rap. The food is pretty good, not GREAT, but certainly not bad either. The atmosphere is among the best at EPCOT. We go almost every year. Wait staff is great. You will have a really nice time. Make sure to stop at La Cava Tequila for a great margarita while you are in the Mexico Pavilion.

for what it is, it is a great spot...

1.) conveniently located in the international pavilion, maybe one of my biggest peeves is having to waste time leaving gates to head to resorts for dinner reservations. This way you can grab a decent meal inside Epcot and save more room for fun at the park.

2.) atmosphere and theming! this takes the cake here, it is a great feeling stepping inside the pyramid (or temple, you pick) and being inside what seems like an active outdoor market. A lot of the stuff is tacky, but they also have some pretty amazing wood carves figures that are hand painted.

3.) romantic possibilities... get there a little early and grab a drink at the tequila bar outside the restaurant, forget the name off the top of my head (La Cava I believe). This is a great spot to grab a seat and choose a tequila you might not get at home.

4.) The Food... is it authentic as it comes, no way... but for what it is and where you are the food is great. Also, the price... it's cheap with most entrees coming in under 30 dollars. To me anything under 30 dollars is affordable, considering most items at national chains are 11-14 dollars you are paying a small bit more for considerably better food ... both taste wise and from a nutritional standpoint.

IMO, there is not a better themed or more romantic restaurant at WDW. The food is very good as well. I was there in October and had the pollo a las rajas and the pineapple margarita and I would highly recommend both.

Since they changed the menu this summer it is much better than it used to be. Gone are the days where this was a taco or enchilada stand and now the menu is somewhat closer to actual Mexican dishes.

San Angel Inn is one of our favorite WDW restaurants and it's always on the must-do list for DW and me. Please see above photo.

You have to realize it's not Tex-Mex, American Southwest cuisine or the chain type stuff most people are used to. It's a Mexico City based restaurant, which is different. Nachos are something that don't even exist there, but were added to SAI's menu to accommodate the masses. My favorite dish from there is the Mole Poblano, and we always enjoy the fantastic Margaritas. Our food has always been spicy and we've always had excellent and speedy service.

Bring a flashlight to read the menu.(

Yes... Every time we go I pack a small flashlight just to bring in with me to read the menu. I remind myself... must bring flashlight. What happens? You guessed it... I forget the flashlight in my suitcase in the resort and end up squinting at the menu.

We've enjoyed most of the meals we've ordered. Portions are sometimes smaller than anticipated though. If you are eating and the mariachi band appears it adds greatly to the atmosphere. Shops are also fun to browse through either before or after the meal.
