San Angel Inn Closing This May

I actually disagree with the opinions on here. I eat at the Mexico quick service probably 80% of the time while I'm at Epcot. I was upset that they changed the combination plate, but I'll get by.

On my most recent trip, we went to the China quick service and I was impressed by the speed in which the food was handed out, more so than any other Disney quick service. The food wasn't earth shattering, but it wasn't horrible either. Although they were separated by separate trips, I don't think it's any better or worse than the Yak and Yeti quick service.

I like it, so you all must be wrong.

Hey, I agree with you!

DH and I ate there in Sept and really enjoyed it. Our server, Pam, was outstanding and made great suggestions. We both really enjoyed our food. We hope to go back next trip in Sept.

PS My taste buds are just fine, thank you :p

PSS Our only negative was the nasty Tostitos....get real chips, please!

I can't believe they use Tostitos. There is nothing better than fresh ones made in the store. I wish they would do that.

Finally, San Angel Inn needs some serious help with service. I don't know if anyone else has noticed this, maybe it's an economic factor, but the tables are spaced way too close. I had to turn around and ask the family behind me if they could scooch (sp?) in a little so that I could get out.

Not to mention the service took almost two hours just for an appetizer and dinner.

Yea they really pack them in there. But there just isnt that much space and obviously they are trying to sit as many people as possible

Very true, its all about the money when it comes to seating.
I'd like to see Disney expand the restaurant out into the market a little bit, to give the area a little more breathing room.

Well, if the rumors are true about a new Table Service being built outside where the Cantina is now, and San Angel Inn becoming a Signature restaurant, I'd expect them to thin the tables out a bit (along with the accompanying rise in prices)

This would have to follow a drastic increase in food quality!!

I wonder if Tostito's is a sponsor of the Mexican pavilion. I honestly don't know, but it would be one explanation as to why WDW cheaped out on authentic quality food (the other main reason being WDW and "cheaping out" often go hand in hand).

However, I will say that I've eaten at both SAI and the QSR and generally enjoyed both. Yeah, SAI is more expensive than it ought to be, but I wasn't disappointed. And for the record, I have some awesome non-chain Mexican restaurants in my general area (Juanito's in Red Bank is one in particular I recommend to damn near everyone who visits these parts).

San Angel Inn is one of our favorite WDW restaurants and always on our must-do list. Please see above photo. :slurp:

You have to realize it's not Tex-Mex, American Southwest cuisine or the chain type stuff most people are used to-- but Mexico City style, which is different. Nachos are something that don't even exist there, but were added to SAI's menu to accommodate the masses. I do regret that the Queso Fundido appetizer is no longer offered. My favorite dish is the Mole Poblano, and my DW and I always enjoy a Margarita Grande or two. Our food has always been spicy and we've always had excellent and speedy service.

Ever since they got rid of the Queso Fundido, it's been downhill. The service used to be really excellent back in the mid-late 90s and has declined ever since. Bring back the Queso!:fork:

What I've never understood about San Angel Inn is that with its location, they could put a very nice restaurant in there and charge $100/person and people would pay it. I would take On The Border over the crap they have in there.
