We just returned from The World and we tipped $1/day per person and the mousekeeper was SO appreciative and thanked me profusely whenever she saw me in the hall. It made me think that not many people leave a tip & that's too bad.

Devora was a great mousekeeper also. Different towel creations left on the bed every day, which made the kids as excited to get back to the room as they were to leave in the morning. On our final day, we left her $10. :)

I would tip with cash, and I would do so every day not just when you check out. I know it sounds bad but you will definitely see an increase in service when the mouse keepers know you are tipping. Also leave some sort of a note so their is no question that the money is a tip for the mouse keeping staff. I have left a tip in the room before without one and found it still sitting on the table when I got back to the room.

You probably should tip each day, because you might not have the same staff servicing your room throughout your stay.

Somebody (and I can't remember who) went so far as making up Mousekeeping envelopes before they left home and put $1/person (we leave $5/day for the 4 of us) and left them out everyday. We used to leave a tip and the end of our stay, but have started leaving it daily. We always leave an envelope by the bathroom vanity, clearly marked with "Mousekeeping -Thanks for all your hard work".

On our last trip, we left cash ($5) a day every day and they never took it.

Like someone else said, you need to leave a note. Without a proper note, them taking the money could be considered stealing, and Disney is extremely strict with mousekeeping when in comes to theft. I've seen people leave cute notes, or have their children decorate envelopes to put the money in. That way there is no question as to what the money is for.

Sadly that is true. On average I get a few dollars in tips for the two days a week I work. But some days we get very lucky. One day back in Dec. I got $14 in tips.

This is very true. I'm usually in a different person's section every weekend.

I've never made envelopes, but I always leave the cash under their "business card" that is usually near the sink.

And I tip everyday for 2 primary reasons mentioned above:

1) the mousekeeper you have on Day 1-5 may not be the same as on your last day

2) it's human nature to go out of your way if someone is nice to you. Tips wont' "buy" towel animals, as many here have reported, but they can't hurt. Plus, it's just the decent thing to do. These people are picking up your wet towels and making your bed, after all.

I would never leave a Disney dollar as a tip - the Mousekeepers work hard, do a terrific job, and should be able to spend their well-earned tips wherever they choose! We always leave cash, in a clearly-marked envelope, every morning of our stay.

It is appropriate to tip your Mousekeeper...at any hotel it is appropriate to tip those who assist you.

It is also customary to leave your tip to cover your entire trip on the last day of the stay -- however, in this instance, knowing that you have different mousekeepers each day, you can leave a tip each morning instead. You must mark this as a tip - with an envelope, a note, or even a sticky pad note that says "tip, thank you".

I am always amazed when people state that they had no idea they were supposed to tip a mousekeeper. It certainly points out the number of people who are not familiar with travel expectations.

It is expected that you tip 15% at any of the service restaurants, although a tip is included in the meal plan if you use that option. Even with that tip, it is not inappropriate to leave extra on the table if you liked your service.

It is expected that you tip on any cab ride that you take. The 15% rule doesn't strictly apply...under five dollars add a dollar as tip...5 to 20 dollars leave a 2 or 3 dollar trip. Leave an appropriate tip for larger amounts. Usually you can ask the driver to just "keep the change" and round up to the next 5 or 10 even bill.

Note: At Disney it is NOT expected that you tip a concierge and they have been instructed to tell you that they can not accept a tip(although that is expected at other hotels in the rest of the real world) nor the baggage delivery person for the Magical Express -- although you should tip him or her one dollar per bag, despite the fact that the brochure tells you that "tipping is not expected." It is proper travel expectation to do so if you are in the room at the time of delivery.

We did though. And they still didn't take it. I was baffled. We ended up handing it to the one girl on the last day. She was grateful but seemed surprised.

tipping mousekeepers

We always tip every day we are there. We usually leave five dollars under a note that says, "Thanks for cleaning our room. Room . . ." with our last name, like "the jones family". That way they know who left the tip, who we are. We have always had great service from them and almost always they do special things, like the towel animals. Last week at the AKL our mousekeeper left us an elephant from towels with heart stickers on valentine's day. For some reason, it actually adds to the magic of being at a disney resort. Where else can you get towel animals left for you? :D :D

We always tip also. I decorate envelopes using the character stickers that come in the Disney DVD Club advertisements. I also write "Mousekeeping" in cute letters and put a big "Thank-you" on there also. I would never leave them Disney Dollars though. Like the others have said, they may want to spend the cash in other places. Besides the fact that they work there. I compare it to something like this....Say that you worked (for example) at Chuck E Cheese and someone left you a tip in tokens. Just MHO though.

Definitely tip every day. I've usually tipped $2 or $3 each day when I'm travelling alone. I too have received profuse thank you's from the staff when I've seen them around. I haven't always gotten anything special in return (animal towels, etc), but dont expect it as it's something to reward a job well done. However, on one visit at Dixie Landings (Port Orleans Riverside now), the mousekeeper left some Mickey chocolates on one day, mints on another, extra mickey soaps and such on another. Which was a very welcome surprise at the end of each day. Leaving a tip is something they definitely appreciate! I agree with others, leave some sort of a note indicating that it is for them and put it with their card, dont just leave the cash out on a table as most probably wont take it.
