Note: At Disney it is NOT expected that you tip a concierge and they have been instructed to tell you that they can not accept a tip(although that is expected at other hotels in the rest of the real world) nor the baggage delivery person for the Magical Express -- although you should tip him or her one dollar per bag, despite the fact that the brochure tells you that "tipping is not expected." It is proper travel expectation to do so if you are in the room at the time of delivery.

I found it very rude that on the inside of the Magical Express Bus it said "Gratuities Appreciated". I guess it was just because Magical Express is an outside company, not directly working for Disney. I still found it wrong though, it was like begging for a tip.

The Magical Express bus sign is new to me - I didn't see that on my trip - but I'm an ex-New Yorker so I have become really good at ignoring pleas for money. The normal etiquette for bus drivers, though, is to tip if he has to handle your bags (i.e. puts them under th bus for you) and don't tip if you get on and off with no assistance from him or her. That is pretty standard for any shuttle service like that. AT Disney, since it is rolled into the "free service" (which we all know isn't free anyway) I don't think it is inappropriate to tip when you get off. A dollar a person is fine. You are NOT obligated to give the driver anything.

SO you are saying we should bring how much money for tipsfor a familyof four?4 bucks per dayfor housekeeping thats understandable and 40 bucks.4 bucks per bus ride , then extra for wait staff. nickel and dime us why dont' ya. My understanding with the dining plan is that they make 18-20%percent tip.I jsut think some are going overboard with the tipping.I used to wait tables and would have been estatic to make 20% but no here you make 2.13 plus tips which amount to about 10-15%.

We save up for our Disney trips every year.

We save up money for the Resort.
We save up money for the Air Fare.
We save up money for the Park Tickets.
We save up money for the transportation to and from airports.

We also save our $5 bills a month before we arrive.
We put them in envelopes..one per day for the Mousekeepers.
One $5 dollar bill for each night we stay in our Disney Resort.

Not because we are rich...we're not...but because they deserve it.
If I tip a waitress 15% for just carrying my food to my table,
I should certainly tip a Mousekeeper $5 for cleaning the floors, bathroom and making the beds, and bringing me clean washcloths and towels to my room.

My party of two adults left three dollars a day in envelopes I printed myself. After a quick search of the internet and different Disney sites I found templates which made it very easy to print out Disney Mousekeeping envelopes. While I never encountered any of the staff, the envelopes were taken everyday(though I did recieve a towel animal one day:) ).

Since our 2nd or 3rd trip, we have always left $5 (cash) in an envelope that I prepared before leaving home using my greeting card progam and Disney clipart I downloaded from the web. The envelope is usually placed on the dresser, in front of the extra glasses and ice bucket so it cannot be overlooked. Reaction from Mousekeeping has ranged from ambivelant to totally appreciative.

During Oct last year we were at the Contemporary during Hurricaine Wilma. The day they closed the park, they 'suspended' housekeeping, but left a message on the phone that if we needed anything, just call. I called and got fresh towel (within minutes, actually), so I gave the girl the full tip. I have never seen anyone so grateful for such a small gesture. It's for that reason we will continue to leave 'Thank you, Mousekeeping!' envelopes each night of our vacation.
