I would welcome a new country to World Showcase. However, I doubt very much it would be Russion. World Showcase makes Disney money through it's restaurants and bars. That is the reason why the restaurants and bars have been renovated and added to over the years at a much greater rate then the attractions, stores, and facilities. Russian food ?? Vodka bar maybe but I doubt a Russian food Restaurant would be the most profitable restaurant they could construct. I could see the following which I believe would be more profitable before a Russian restaurant: 1. Australian and/or South Pacific Islands; 2. Carribbean; 3. African; 4. South American. Yes I realize some of these are continues and/or regions rather than countries, but you know what I mean. Additionally, these are some of the most popular food/drink stands in EPCOT during the Food and Wine Festival.

Yes it is like Polish and Ukranian Food, but both are too close to German Food. Therefore, if there was a new country my bet is that it would be different as I indicated before.

In reality it wasn't about countries we liked, it was about countries financially supporting the pavillion. There were many countries that disney tried to persuade to come, such as Israel and Iran.

I know it was due to money, I was only pointing out that all the pavilions that wound up being built were all the ones who were at the time currently friendly with the US. I don't think it was necessarily intended that way as I know Disney approached some others, its just what the result wound up being.

lol, Chernobyl is in the Ukraine, once a part of Russia.

But yeah, I would love to see this pavillion! I say Soarin across Russia would be really fun!

In Soviet Russia, Russia soars across you. :p

Seriously though, Jim Hill mentioned that the designs were being revised to show a more modern Russia. All of the pavilions in World Showcase are based on classic architecture, and a modern pavilion wouldn't blend very well.

What would a more modern Russia be? I don't know how that would be interesting. People want to see the Kremlin, Red Square and things of that nature.

Sweet-I hear there will be a new " waiting in line for government toilet paper" attraction coming.

I think russia would be great. As a kid of the 70s and 80s I remember fearing this end of the world nuclear war with the Soviet Union. My Moms side of the family is from Russia and have some cool old black and white pics of them circa 1920s.

I googled modern Russia and got this:

This style of architecture looks great on it's own, but it would really clash with the rest of World Showcase

I agree, we have all waited so long to finally see it built it would be dissapointing if they went totally modern and didnt do St Basil's etc. as dissapointing as SE grrr.
But Jim Hill also said a couple months ago that Australia was close to finally coming and that went nowhere so.....I think its wishful thinking but interesting to read about and hope for.
