I know there are a few runners on these message boards. I've read several accounts of the WDW marathon now both on here and other places.
I'm thinking about getting a group of people together from this board that can serve as encouragement for each other. We'll track everybody's races, how they did.
We'll congratulate ourselves when we do well, and push each other when we feel low.
I'll be the first to jump in. I'm a new runner this season. My doctor gave me a push in February to lose some weight. He wanted 30-40 pounds. I'm not a heavy guy by any means, but I do carry a little extra baggage above the belt.
Being an officer, I decided that it was in my own best interest, and in the interest of those I serve if I followed the advice. I had never run more than a small jog in my life, but I decided to take up running, following the "Podrunner: Interval - First day to 5k" interval series. I'm in week 8 of 10, and I'm running 3 miles 3-4 times a week, and I've found I really enjoy it. I've lost 10 pounds since this began (Thank you for the exact measurement Wii Fit).
I've registered for a local 5 mile race in June, and I have a goal of the WDW 1/2 marathon in 2011.
Let's get a group together and see how far we can run.
Any suggestions are welcome.
