Sweet! Lucky call! Suppose that 2hr wait was well worth it!
Yes it was!! DH wanted to go on the first bus to MK, he wanted to avoid the crowded buses, it was us & one other family on the bus & they had early breakfast reservations. Since we was picked, we did not wait, they took us on in & a CM took us around & took pictures until it was time to do the Welcoming Show.

This is a great story, congrats! So lucky! I'd love to get picked for this one day, when DD is older. Right now I don't think she'd have the patience to go that early.

We usually arrive 30 mins beforehand. The earliest we ever arrived was 7:45 for a 9 AM rope drop day, but that was for an 8:05 breakfast ADR. Was fun though, because we were done eating just before 9, so we got to wait at the rope in front of Fantasyland and see it all empty & quiet. All the little girls were waiting to run for the old Tink's Treasures store to wake up Tink. We got to watch that ceremony which was really cute. I love being there early in the morning.

Usually 30 to 20 minutes before the rope drop.

My favorite had to be the DHS opening when everyone took off like they were in a marathon toward ToT. I got hit by a stroller, leaped back up and managed to get toward the front of the runners. Then we had to walk back and get behind the employees walking the rope to the ride. I honestly didn't see them before, I was too distracted by trying to beat the parents who ran me over. Still managed to be the 3rd person in line for the ride.

We tend to get to the parks about 15 to 20 min early. The first day we always do magic kingdom and my wife always wants to get there really early so we can be up front for the welcome show.
