Rumors on when the Cali Grill will open/reservations

I on one hand, and happy with my Narcoosee's ADR and won't be changing it to Cali...especially seeing those 2-person tables packed side by side....UGH
As long as I can still eat in the lounge, I'm fine. We've always been brought up early and taken to the lounge, and the servers have always given us the option of just staying in the lounge for our meal. We always take them up on it. It's a more intimate setting than the main dining room anyway. We can tune everyone else out.

I dont think theybare that bad. No closer than my local Cheesecake Factory Seating. Plus its all about the foooooooooodddddddd :)
I really hate those shared bench seats, and did kind of moan about it when I first saw the new virtuals. I'm not one of those people that will ask to be seated elsewhere if I don't like the table a restaurant gives me, but I think my heart would sink a little if I was sat there. I don't like the whole butt-scoot thing, nor do I like feeling like there is NO privacy between me and my neighbors.

There is nothing worse than when your table is like 6 inches from the people next to you. It's extremely uncomfortable and I never wanna talk about anything with my girlfriend as I know they are listening, or at least that's all I think of.

Sticking with Narcoosee's! It's going to be the dinner right after I propose, so I want to make sure we get a good table at a quiet restaurant :-)

We're in the same boat here. We always have our Anniversary dinner date at Cali in August so I'm so bummed to have to go somewhere else. Have you dined at Narcoossee's before? It is a really great spot.

Took my parents there for an anniversary dinner late last year. The food was excellent, atmosphere -- window view of the MK -- was nice, server was pleasant.

Cali Grill on the prior trip was excellent on all three accounts. Steven, our server, was exceptional.

One of our WDWMAGIC members: WDW1974 reported a few days ago that if all goes according to plan, the Cali Grill should reopen on September 5th. Not sure about reservations though.

The table we had at Narcoossee's was directly next to aother couple and the woman sitting at the table kept looking over and listening to my Mom and I when we would talk. It was so annoying. Some of the tables there are pretty close, as well. Hopefully you don't get stuck next to someone like that!

So I have been stocking the Disney blogs and calling the Dine Line everyday. I have had 2 agents on the past 2 days say they think reservations will open up in the next week or two. Seems like they are cutting it close if it really does open up in early September. Kinda think they would have a solid open date by now. Anyone else have thoughts or opinions or stocking the Dine Line, lol?

not sure how reliable it is, but I called into the Dining ressie line on Monday, and the agent I spoke to told me she had heard that the re-opening was pushed out to late November. She said construction ran into some delays, but gave the standard "the really don't tell us anything, check the blogs and website" response. Seems kinda feasible though, considering that people are still saying they are hearing the reopening date is 9/1 or 9/5, and here we are roughly 3 weeks away and they STILL haven't released any ressies. If they knew they were re-opening in September, why not release the ressies by now? And definitely why not release December ressies (for me lol). How soon did they start releasing reservations for Be Our Guest when the opening date was confirmed?

After reading this thread I almost panicked, we did NOT have a back-up ADR! But, I'm happy to report, that has been rectified. After going over menus, changing my mind about trying 1900 Park Fare and not being able to get 'Ohana, I ended up with an ADR at the Grand Floridian Cafe. We've only had breakfast there before and my DH is definitely looking forward to trying the lobster burger! We love it there, the place is beautiful and the food had always been very good.

However, as soon as I see the CG has opened up I'm going to try like crazy to get an ADR there!! :hungry:

I have all of my ADR's for January except for California Grill. I haven't heard much buzz about when they are expected to reopen. I tried calling for an adr, I was transferred to a manager who said to check back in a few weeks. Anyone have any other info??
