Rumoured Plot of Mickey's PhilharMagic

According to Animagic, the 3-D show would follow Donald after he "steals Mickey's Sorcerer's Hat, [which] takes on a life of its own. Donald ends up chasing it through famous Disney films: you're flying a lot (think an animated Soarin') and at other times you're maneuvering through other terrain. The animation models are exquisitely faithful to the originals, with the difference that the characters have been completely computer modelled, and then passed on to the animators to act in their scenes. Since the characters have three dimensions as well as the scenery, there will be a level of depth never seen before in an animated 3D film. Plus, the enormous screen (bigger than Soarin's, though not concave), the sound effects and in-theater effects (wind, etc.). The moving floor for the PhilharMagic project was cut some time back. Not entirely a budget move, it was just not really needed for the show."

I was planning on going to Disneyland in 2003 but with Mickey's Philharmagic and Mission: Space opening in 2003 then I think I will change my plans.

Sounds cool, but what do you think the moving floor woulda been? Like, what purposely would it have served?

Probably just for movements like in HISTA, to make it appear that the ground shakes. I am guessing that they don't want to make the show appear to "Get the audience into it" as much as HISTA, so mabey that is why they nixed the moving floor.

I had heard that the attraction will open in Summer 2003. The September opening would make more sense with the rumors flying around that the next celebration at WDW will be the 75th Birthday of Mickey Mouse.

No moving floor

This is off a story by Fab Disney Babe (a good source on Disney stuff, lots of friends in WDI) off of http://www.laughingplace.com It seems like some of the rumors that have been floating around are shot down in this.

The plot: Donald Duck, being Donald Duck, decides to steal Mickey's sorcerer's hat - which Mickey, if you've seen Fantasia, "borrowed" from Yensid at one point. That's not mentioned in this film, but the hat continues to cause more trouble than the hapless "borrower" intended - the hat springs to life on its own and drags poor Don through all sorts of mischief, including leading him on a wild goose - er, duck chase through a slew of Disney animated films. Though the moving floor was canned early in development (think Honey, I Shrunk the Audience), audiences will feel, through the huge screen and 3D graphics, like they are flying after Donald and the mad magical hat, both literally and through all sorts of landscapes. Wind effects and sound effects in the theatre, like precursors "Honey..." and "Captain EO" ensure that the audience won't miss a moving floor effect at all. The screen is huge and curved, not a dome as in Soarin' Over California, but those who have seen the film say the sensations are just as good and the suspension of disbelief complete.

The above plot is correct. I don't know where in the hell I got the instrument and the hat switched around at, but that is it.

Mickey's Philhormonic is nothing like Animaic at Disneyland Paris

It sounds just like WDS's "Animagic" at Disneyland Paris.Their show is almost like Fantasmic ,except indoors.

Animagic -"Spoiler"

A live Mickey and Donald are working at their animation desks in the studio, mickey decides to take a little break and leaves the stage with donald left alone .Donald borrows Mickey's magic paint brush and decides to draw some elephants ,which turn into a musical score scene from Dumbo. The elephants disapper and a jungle appears on stage along with Baloo and King Louie performing "Walk Like You".

You then go deep into the forest where The Lion King procession takes place. You then find Donald asleep at his desk,Mickey comes in and wakes Donald from his dream ,Donald tells mickey what happen but Mickey thinks Donalds joking. As soon as mickey leaves the character appear on stage then ,Mickey apperars for the final musical number.

Sorry if the Pic is to Big!

>>>wow! i cant wait! where'd ya hear all that info?<<<

Well... I got it from an animator working on the project.

I posted it on Laughingplace.

Animagic asked if they could reprint it.

Then Fab read it on Animagic, and posted it back on Laughingplace with better emphasis, and a couple of other details on the screen that I think she got from another mutual friend who'd told me about it... but I didn't want to reveal that part til he did...

Kinda funny... it went full circle.

So that's it.
