Stealing this from MC. A user over there posted that the Disneyland app has recently been updated with what appears to be a picture of WDW style logs on Splash Mountain (which is currently under refurb)

It's interesting to see which hotels outside of the parks are presented in the app. There is definitely some stuff missing.

So pleased to hear this rumor is false.

I'd welcome WDW's boat-like logs with open arms!!! Traditional logs are too communal for me. I always feel like strangers are bumping up and invading my space, putting their knees on my arms and their arms on my knees!

Haha, do we agree on anything other than the fact that Ohana is delicious?

We agree on lots I think -- but yes, mostly that Ohana is delicious and I am long overdue for a chicken/pork combo with some of that potato/mac salad!!! If you ever make it to WDW, beware.... there is an Ohana restaurant at the Polynesian, but it is not the same nor does it have photos of D level celebs on the wall!

Lol gotta love those D listers. One of the last few times I was there Ray Romano was there though.

They could of course just be replacing the track in its entirety at the end of its lifespan like they have with space mountain and big thunder. They did gut the entire flume and its surrounding rockwork though and I have to be honest, when I saw the new track installed this week, it looked far wider than I expected it to. I had this thought before the rumor mills went crazy. As expensive as it would be to do, it would be great for capacity next to galaxy's edge. About ten years ago at this point they added the double-wide last row but never ended up utilizing them because they were getting stuck. Perhaps the bigger problem was the depth of the flume. Would be smart if they just made some minor modifications during this replacement to better suit at the very least, the logs they already have.

I dunno. I feel like it wouldn’t be DLs Splash Mountain if they weren’t zipping along at that quick pace. Surely, it was designed that way right? It’s hard to believe that it wasn’t the intention for them to go that speed when they built the ride and designed the flumes/ logs?

Speed of fumes are controlled by several factors, 1. the water flow and 2. conveyors along the path. So they can still zip it along by just increasing the speed of both.
