According to a couple of sources backstage, Festival of Fantasy will halt performances throughout February, March, and April. The reason given by one source claimed that there will be construction on the float warehouses backstage during this time.

I'd imagine the floats could use some work at this point? Not saying it's falling apart or anything but some downtime is probably needed. And I guess if they are planning to run it at night, do whatever they need to do to the floats?

What are they going to do with no parade what-so-ever in any park? February and March are "slower" (lol, not by much though) times so before Spring Break makes the most sense.

I mean, it runs 20 minutes a day. I assume they could have a lot of maintenance in the other hours or they could refurb a float at a time.

The floats are not super strong. If you have quite a few needing work suddenly you are heading towards a half parade.

They may only be out for a short time each day but that didn't stop the DEP falling apart or both PTNs suffering did it?

Not that I know anything about this report.

I know this is sacrilege, but I wonder if this is an operational trial to see if they can get away without doing a parade at MK? I know there is a lot of love out there for Disney's big parades. But in a park as busy as the MK, I feel like they are nothing but a nightmare. As an adult they stress me out, I can't imagine how much stress this adds to the average family during a typical day at the park.

I know folks would be quick to jump on the 'cutting by degrees', but would people be less horrible during the day if they weren't stressing themselves out navigating to and from the parades?

I can understand Animal Kingdom and Epcot not having parades (though I could argue they could do water parades during the day ...) but the MK and DHS shouldn't ever be without a parade. JMO. Especially the MK. I'm sure from a cost perspective they'd love to be without one.

Gotta love it - first time in a long time there will not be a single parade at any of the 4 theme parks. (I don't consider move it shake it irritate it a parade - its more a show that rolls into place)

Sad times but at least we have the cabanas right?
I'm sure they'll keep Tiana's Riverboat Party, too. Honestly, the view will be largely the same.

As terrible as a thing as this is, because I love FoF, I have to agree with you. Nothing is worse than being at MK when its extremely busy and coming to a bunch of dead ends because of the parade moving through the park. Or even walking down MSUSA, no one adheres to the rules of the tape on the ground and it is just chaotic. It definitely stresses me out as well. I know it isn't as big as a problem for me in off seasons when the park is less crowded, but during peak season...
