RPR

We just had a fantastic 12 day stay at RPR in December. Room was perfect and the staff were great. We also had a great 10 night stay there Dec. 2012.

We were in a refurbed room on the 7th floor of Tower 2. Great room with a great view.

My understanding is that the Refurb is now pretty much finished. You would have had one of the last non-refurbed rooms. I'm guessing it was scheduled for refurb shortly after you left, which would explain why they didn't want to spend any money fixing that room. They should have just pulled that room out of service if it was that bad. It seems they got a little greedy because it was the holiday season and they knew they could fill every room. It probably made it almost impossible for them to give you another room too if the hotel was full.

I'm not making excuses for them just speculating on why this happened. Seems you were the unlucky ones that drew the short stick. I'd be ticked too if we were the ones that were stuck with that room. I'd probably let them attempt to make it up to me just because we have had 2 great stays there.

I thought the shampoo, lotion, soap, etc was pretty good stuff for a hotel, but I'm no expert on that...lol.

2/23 UPDATE** tried to use our "free" weekend with 4 different dates (not during spring break). ALL of the dates are "Blacked out". I am not surprised. I should have asked for a refund
On the plus side, I booked a week at the HRH for the summer on the way home form 5 days in beautiful San Francisco- which was not at all free! Let the countdown begin!!

I don't know what to say but I hope you keep in mind this is not the norm. You had the trip from hell and I know you took a chance when you booked the RPR rather than HRH. What you went through is NOT normal, I doubt you will ever come back and hope I can spend some time at the HRH in the future but the time I spent at the RPR was wonderful.

Sorry you are going through all this and hope you can see the humor in it if there is any to be seen.

Is it just me or does this really not look bad at all?
Just looks like someone spilled soda on the floor at some point.
Do you have more pictures?
I have a treasure trove. Mind you, I nearly paid $700/night for this mess. SEVEN HUNDRED DOLLARS A NIGHT. if someone spilled coke, CLEAN IT UP! Frankly, I am fortunate enough to "have the money", however, I expect more. As I should. I have totally written this trip off in the file of "live and learn", I absolutely will not return, even for free. I give RPR a giant middle finger, and I will move on. HRH in June :)

I get it and your stay didn't live up to what anyone would consider acceptable, but the RPR is our home away from home when we travel. 5 times in the last 3 years my my calculation and never a bad stay. Never a bad room whether they were pre or post renovation. But also I never paid close to 700 a night. Out high was $400 for a suite when we could get no ap discount. Usually is it ~189 for a regular no view room.

Having toured but never stayed at any of the other hotels (so I can't speak to the rooms) I would never stay anywhere else.

Bummer they didn't win you over.

wish I could give one of you guys our "free" weekend, whenever the blackout dates do not apply! Nothing to get my panties in a wad about, just going back home :) Booking HHN 26 and EVE at HRH next paycheck- good thing I just got a promotion!

quite frankly, if it wasn't for the price, I wouldn't be so turned off, however, they did little to nothing to correct the situation. I have NEVER experienced something like this. It's frankly ridiculous and not worth the stress, there are plenty of hotels that appreciate our business. It's all good.

once, when we went to HRH, we checked in early. Went to the parks. Came back around 5. Our room still wasn't ready. We weren't mad. IMMEDIATELY, they knocked $150/ night off our stay AND bought us dinner- without us even making a fuss! That's service, that's what you should expect at that pricepoint. But like I said, no worries, live and let live.

Maybe do one more contact and let them know you cannot use the "free booking" and that you would gladly return it for a refund of some of what you spent? I know NYE was the reason for your stay and the rate was based on that but really, these rooms run $234 - $257 most nights of the year. If they adjusted it to a realistic rate maybe it would be easier to swallow?

the "contact person" won't return our calls, and the ONE time she answered an e-mail, it was limiting and rude. They really expect people not use the voucher I suppose. I'm being extremely nice and patient (which isn't easy:joyfull:). Hubs is calling Loew's corp. I say forget about it, but to him, it's now game on. It's really not worth my time and effort. Frankly, after this whole debacle, I wouldn't have a good time there anyway, I'd be worried they planted bedbugs in my luggage or spit in my food.:hilarious: Sometimes you get screwed in life, accept it and move on!
