Roy Disney Statue Permanently Removed from MK?

While in MK today I noticed that the Roy Disney "Sharing the Magic" Statue was nowhere to be seen. I had asked a Cast Member what the deal was, to which they told me that "it's been permanently removed and put to storage because park officials didn't feel as though it fit the theme of the area".

Hoping that this is untrue as it was a gut-punch to hear. As the one that powered Walt's dreams by making it work financially, Roy (to me) is a huge factor as to why WDW even exists. Aside from not getting any credit, removing his statue would be very sad indeed.

Without Roy there would be no Magic Kingdom. I doubt it's true but if it is then I think it is pathetic.

First they cancel a theater that had a connection to Walt Disney's childhood and then take away the tribute to the man who financially made WDW possible. Will they not be happy until Disney is taken out of the Disney Company?

The statue is usually by the flag pole but is sometimes moved near the tree planters by City Hall to accommodate seasonal layovers in the garden/make room for a photo spot, but I’ve never seen it fully removed from the park ever. Maybe the CM thought you were referring to the goofy on the bench statue in front of town square theatre? I think that was is gone now but I’m not 100% on that one.

In November this past year I saw the statue right near the bench in City Hall (Roy and Minnie sitting together). I took a picture of it with my kids. So it was over there then. I guess they move it around? Until then I didn't know it even could move because I too remember it near the flagpole on Main Street. I just figured it was a lot like Walt and Mickey's Statue and it was solid to the bench. Either way, yeah you never take Roy out of there. Unless some millennial CEO comes in and starts thinking that somehow Roy's presence "triggers" them, then it stays, forever.

It seems we are living in the age of taking down statues. It is such a dangerous practice and is not good for the nation.
