Room Requests-- NO OPTIONS!

I used the app within the MDE website to put in my preferences, but that wasn't working.

So, I used the MDE's email app which asked for my reservation number and just simply let them know my preferences. But then the reply email said the people who get the email don't have access to reservations and I need to call the resort.

Do you know if Android devices has this 'phone' app?

Don't know. But seriously, I used the telephone app (it's green with what looks like a left parentheses at an angle) to call WDW and make my room requests. Because I got a hold of a live person, that person was very helpful.

I contacted WDW and made my request over the phone (in my case, a specific building at CSR). They said that while they'd make a note of it, they couldn't guarantee it, which is fair enough. The request has been noted in my invoice as well, so I've got that.

As to whether I'll get my request, I'll find out in 17 days time!

Yup. And it's probably a GOOD thing....

You see, once a "so called" online request is made? Our experience is that you can never CONFIRM that it was made, via the online system.
So please - if DVC? EMAIL Guest Services. NOT DVC? Please, CALL. In each case, you will at least know that a REAL Room Request has been made, and NOTED,

All personal opinion - I'm not necessarily right, no one else is necessarily wrong.
You are pretty much spot on. I have been using online check in since it launched and I don't think requests has worked consistently for more than a week at a time.
If you want to make a room request don't go on line, don't fax the resort, just call, talk to an actual human and have them add the request.

If you are a DVC member, or are renting from a member direct or via a broker, you should always email/chat/phone Member Services to make a room request for a DVC resort.

The only time Guest Services could help would be if you booked through Disney.

ummmm.... Member Services IS Disney. Pretty sure that's what you meant :). DVC Rentals? Yup, Go to the person/agency doing the rental :). First question Member Services asks: What is your Member Number? Really not a good idea for any DVC Owner to hand this out to a third party :(.

No, that is not what I meant.

Member Services refers to the Disney Vacation Club CMs. That is not the same as Disney. In my book there’s a distinction between Disney and DVC. For DVC reservations, you should only be going through the DVC Member Services. Not the general Disney CMs.

Guest Services is the Disney “help line”, ie: non-DVC. Anyone who booked a villa direct through Disney CRO has to go through Guest Services.

Only DVC members can phone DVC Member Services. That is who can make reservations etc.

I said nothing about handing over membership number to a third party.

If you are renting you should ask the Member you are renting from to phone Member Services. If you rent through a broker you have to go through the broker to reach the Member.

I called up and added my requests earlier today - super straightforward and they re-sent my invoice to me, detailing what I'd asked for and that it has been noted.

I've always been told that Faxing in room requests are a great way to make sure the request was delivered. Does not guarantee the request will be always filled, but at least assurance that it made it's way to the correct Cast Member.

The big problem with that is if the CM is following the rules, requests made by fax are not to be accepted.

The only way to guarantee that the CM assigning rooms will see your request is to call and have it put on your reservation.

I have faxed in my requests as well as called in every time and received our request every time, not sure if it is the call in or the fax, but it is working for us

The room location options disappeared with the latest MDE update a while ago. If you have a strong preference, call Disney and have it noted on your reservation.
This is exactly what we did a couple of months ago and we got exactly what we asked for. Of course, nothing is ever guaranteed, but IMO this is the best way to try to get what you want.
