Room Request

I'm sure this question has been answered numerous times, but I have not been on here for awhile. Can you still make a request for a room/building even though you only pay for the standard room? Please help or lead me to the right thread. Thanks!!!

Captain...from what I understand you are or were a front desk CM. Every bit of official information I have, both coming directly from Disney as well as people I know that have worked the desk at other resorts and/or the DRC all say the same thing regarding calling the resorts for room requests. That is that the calls are directed back to the DRC. The only time you actually talk to someone at the front desk of the resort is if you are already checked into the resort and have an issue. I would like to know what your actual experience has been regarding guests calling the resort directly for requests.

I was always under the impression that if you call the hotel directly (not the 407-W-DISNEY number) that the CM on the other side of the phone at the hotel will take your requests and put them into your reservation. I did not answer any of the back office phones so it is possible I am mistaken but even working there that was always the impression I was under. Back office CMs do the have ability to add requests to your reservation starting 10 days before your check-in date. That I am 100% sure of. And I would still call the hotel directly. Sorry for any confusion I might have caused!

Ah I understand Captain. However if you call the hotel "directly" you are answered at a main switchboard that is NOT on the grounds of the hotel you are calling and are simply re-routed to the Reservation center so the request can be added. Im fairly sure that you are correct, people at the hotel can affect changes after the 10 day mark, the problem is getting to them while you are still offsite. Marie

We called POLY last year in december, about 10 days out, and requested a lagoon view. It was actually a person at the resort that answered, because they said something like "this is "insert name" of the Polynesian, how can i help you?" We also called wdwtravel, and were told they could not do anything for us as we did not pay for it. After talking to a Poly CM per phone, they assured us a view in Fiji, and sure enough, we got it!. But in the past, we just asked when we got to the resort, and 90% of the time, we got a water view instead of standard. I guess we ride a lucky streak.:D

You can request any wish you have. They will make that accommodation wherever possible. However, they will not place you in a preferred room if you haven't paid for it.

On my last trip, this past November 2010, I requested one of three buildings at Caribbean Beach AND a first floor room, and my request was granted. And this was Thanksgiving week. So, make your request, you may get what you ask for.
