Romance at WDW

I will be going to WDW in September with my boyfriend (who is NOT a disney fan, but is putting his ill feelings aside to make me happy) What are some things that we can do that are romantic but not too cheesy??? Any suggestions are welcome, especially ones that aren't obvious (such as fireworks dinner at the california grill) note: We are staying on-site at Port-Orleans Riverside and will be using disney transportation to get around) :)

If he is not a Disney fan, I wouldn´t take him to the obvious things like for instance, character meals.

I would take him to see the "non so Disney" parts of WDW. For instance, and sorry if I insist on this, but I like the Boardwalk very much, so I would go there to the promenade and have an ice cream there, or take him dancing to the Dance Club or to the dueling pianos at Jellyrolls. That could be a romantic night with him without getting into the "Disneyness" too much... when he tells you what a good night he had, remind him he is at Disney! hehehe... ;)

If you go on a tuesday night to Jellyrolls, it is more fun cause it is full of castmembers! hehe Same if you go to Pleasure Island on a thursday night. At P.I. do not miss Comedy Warehouse! They do improvisation and they are as good or even more as "Whose line is it anyway"! lol

Monorail to Epcot, then walk through IG and take a boat or keep walking. Or bus to the Studios and boat to it. Or Monorail to TTC and bus to the Boardwalk.

I´m not really sure though. I did everything from Epcot because the cast buses dropped me there from home and I´m terrible getting oriented and giving directions. I have a transportation map of WDW but can´t find it right now! :(

Wait a minute! Isn´t there a bus from the Poly to other resorts?? Just take the one to the Boardwalk!

They do allow parking.... we went by car and the guard let us in when we told him we were going to Jellyrolls. They expect visitors... for sure. I am not sure of the cost.

There is an ESPN bar, Spoodles restaurant :slurp:, The Dance Club, Beaches and Cream (sp?) ice cream parlor :slurp: , street craft vendors, Jellyrolls bar, gee... I don´t know how to explain this...! Somebody help me here!! lol

I don't think you can take a bus from Poly to Boardwalk although I might be wrong. Just take a bus to MGM once there hop on one of the boats and it takes you straight to the Boardwalk I think. Shouldn't be more than a 30 min trip. Dinner at the French pavaillion in EPCOT would be nice expecially if you eat near the window during Illuminations.

So.......driving still sounds like my best bet. We don't want to waste our (precious) child free time traveling! We're dropping the kids off at Neverland Club at five and then we'll have to be back there by midnight

driving is defiantely the best bet

Also for a romantic idea at Riverside...just walk around the resort. At night it is very quiet and peaceful and you can sit near the river in the bayou section. It is very nice. Also if French Quarter is open go in to one of the courtyards (i think between buildings 2 and 1 there is one). Sit on a bench near the fountain and relax. Also go in to the main area. It really feels like you are in New Orleans.

You picked a great resort for romance. DL (AKA PORS) was the first WDW resort my hubsand and I ever stayed at and it will always be true magic for us. We were always there in early March, but I guess it is even better in warmer months when the Magnolia trees are in bloom. Take Disney Insiders advise and spend some time hanging out at the resort. Go to the pool at night and soak your feet!!!

There are tons of restarants that have great food and atmosphere. In addtion to trying out Boardwalk, stroll over to Y&B it is so relaxing and romantic too.

WS in Epcot can make a very lovely afternoon, strolling around and checking out the view, getting strangers and CM to take cute pictures of the two of you and taking in all the entertainment. Just relax and see what you see!

The water parks are so much fun for adults, hanging on to one another's float on the lazy rivers or snorkling in TL (havn't done that yet, but think it is a good idea for romance. )

Now i hear there is a carriage ride between WL and FW. (thanks Turkey leg boy) Oh yes and The luau at Poly.

There is no denying the romance at MK. It really does turn beast into a kid again. Cinderella's caslte and carosel is unbeatable romance, and at night when all the trees start so sparkle romance is in the air!!!!

Now I remember why I love WDW so much!!!!!

Its funny but I have been thinking so much about this .. because any time I have had alone at WDW with DH has been romantic, but the best times were strolling around WS at Epcot, once a wonderful dinner alone at L'Original Alfredo di roma Ristorante, where they came and sang at our table *sigh* And dinner at San Angel Inn its so dark and romantic there !!.. and a quiet dinner in the Castle near the window looking out at fantasyland after dark, (there are only charactors for breakfast) it really feels like a fairy tale.

I like San Angel Inn for dinner too. It's a very pretty place. Another thing you can do is to take a fireworks or sunset cruise (I think prices start at $120 for the cruises). You can even charter a yacht for a dinner out on Bay Lake or the Lagoon.

Cirque du Soleil is an amazing show, and much more adult-oriented.

Dancing at Pleasure Island is also romantic and fun.

Strolling through the World Showcase after dusk, when all the lights come on, is also romantic. It's basically empty at that time, and you can stop here or there to eat appetizers. From some of the restaurants you can watch the Illuminations fireworks after dinner.

Visit the Animal Kingdom Lodge. Have a drink in front of the fire at the Wilderness Lodge. You can also go horseback riding at Fort Wilderness, though I think this is only in a group environment.

Have breakfast on your balcony, if your hotel offers room service. I also read somewhere that you can have a dinner set up for you on the beach (you might need to stay at the Polynesian, GF, or Contemporary for this one).

I guess you can find romance anywhere (except It's a Small World).
On our January trip, the first time my girlfriend will be leaving Brazil, I intend to propose in front of Cinderela Castle, at night, when the color show is going on.
