Rock n Roller coaster troubles continuing

I heard it's a decapitation issue. An entire car of riders had their heads sliced off a few weeks ago, but Disney swept it under the rug. It just happened again yesterday. They're trying to clean it up today and wondering what an acceptable level of decapitations might be before they reopen. All the families involved have been paid off with mucho $$$ already and signed forms to never discuss this or sue Disney.

And that's what I'll believe until someone tells me differently . . . .

I'M thinking the same thing! I leave to go to the World 11/20 and I'm gonna cry if it's not up and running! LOL
With Star Tours closed. And if Rockin' Rollercoaster is closed, then the Studios won't take all day to do. Just fix the dang problem and reopen it!!

I'm sure they'll have it fixed just in time for you.
Sorry, but your comment just comes across like a threat. As if you will do something to them if they dont have it open. I would assume you didn't really mean it that way. Maybe it's just me, but, that's how I interpreted it.
Nope. No threat. I just will be upset if it is closed when I'm there.

Just out of curiosity.... Is sounds dangerous open as a result of this? Has it been open since the star tours refurb? Just curious as I wanna try this regardless if it sucks. Thanks

BTW, the Lines app is showing RnRC open at some point this morning. A little while ago it showed a wait time of 33 minutes but reported closed 12 minutes prior to my loading the page. Now it's saying a 37 minute wait but reported closed 8 minutes ago. Not sure if their system is assuming it was open today, listing a forecast wait for the time of day, and then the users reporting it closed is kicking the closed for __ minutes is making it look this way.

RnR has been closed all day with no opening.

I'm not trying to be a b*tch here but my family will be at WDW in a couple weeks. This is one of our favorite attractions. I don't give a rat's patootie what the details of the issue are, what legal is up to, etc. I wanna know if this is safe to put my children on. Do I trust Disney to do the right thing when it comes to safety? For the most part, yes. But I *am* still the momma. If I allowed my kids to ride this attraction knowing what I do from this thread and, God forbid, the unthinkable happens (which you all have to keep in mind that crazy unexpected crap does happen from time to time) then I have to live with that. Chances are stacked that nothing would happen. I know. And I fully expect that Disney would not be so dumb as to take really stupid risks with guest safety.

So, to the CM's on here who know stuff and don't wanna say too much:

I respect you. I realize the risks you would be taking in saying too much. Understandable. All I ask is for you to tell me if it were your child, your sibling, your loved-one, etc. who was about to go for another ride on RnRC right now, would you be okay with this or would you tell them not to go? That only requires a yes or no. If you aren't comfortable answering here, PM me. I'll send you my phone numbers, etc. Heck, I'll come look you up and speak to you face-to-face before we go to DHS.

Thanks.

Disney will never take a gamble with guest safety. RnR is a complex ride system, and the technical issues may not be in anyway safety related at all.

Let me answer this for you.

If it's open, it's safe. Period.

That's very simplistic, and patently untrue. It just means there isn't any KNOWN problem.

I am in agreement with most. If you know something and have no intention of revealing any info, then don't say anything at all. I just assume people who do that don't really know and want to come off as all-knowing. It's very prevelant on this board, and after info is publicy released these same posters reply that they knew but couldn't say anything. Yeah right. All it does is fuel speculation, which can be worse for the company than the actual problem.

I wish I could say I trusted that. I want to trust that. I do. I freakin' love RnRC. I'm just not feeling okay with this one. I'm certain this panic is 99% my insane recurring nightmare issues that I've been plagued with for years. The details bounce between actual nightmare scenarios but the basis is always the same: I'm watching really horrendous things happen to people I love or even to people I don't know and I can do nothing to stop it.

Also, if there's one thing I've learned in my 36 years it's to listen to intuition. If something doesn't feel okay, it usually isn't. I guess I'll keep an eye on things and make the call when I get there.

Relax!!! Seriously, relax dude.

Disney takes safety EXTREMELY Serious. I mean think about it, accidents, especially ones that cause fatalities are bad for business in multiple ways.
But, if you're not comfortable with what you see/hear, then by all means don't go. Ultimately, this rule should be applied to every rider. Always, always, always look out for safety issues, and if you see something that doesn't look right, notify someone. Check your restraints yourself, and don't trust that the ride op is going to do a thorough enough check.

In general, Disney has a pretty good track record. Things can always go wrong, but if you are following an attraction's maintenance and inspection procedures properly, you usually catch the thing going wrong long before it becomes a safety concern. (What I consider to be the most serious lapse---the Big Thunder derailment at Disneyland---was directly due to improperly followed maintenance procedures.)

Always? No, nothing is always. But, your kids are more likely to be hurt on the drive to school in the morning than they are on any attraction inside of a major theme park---be it one of Disney's, or someone else's.

I would hope that Disney would not open the ride until it has been fixed completely but as I recall it had closed down for several days 2 weeks ago. Is this the same problem as before or something new and if it is the same why did they re-open if the problem was not fixed. I also agree that those that offer information and then do not post it, are just trying to act like they know something.

Yeah... why should the public know about a potentially dangerous element on an attraction that they shell out buku bucks to ride by the thousands... I don't think the public could handle this kind of information their feeble little minds may explode.

Here's some info I think you will find vital.

If the Tower of Terror does not work properly, there is a chance your elevator car will fall 13 floors.

Of course if it does work properly your elevator car will fall 13 floors, repeatedly.

This whole thread is just boggling my mind!!!!!
I just kept reading all the way through to see if it became any more or less insane!
Disney does not owe us any explanation as to what the problem is. They have the ride closed to protect their guests and themselves.
They are a HUGE corporation that knows alot more than we all do about the in's and out's of operating and running an incredibly successful business.
If they care to share information as to what the problem is or was, then so be it.
If people are afraid to ride it because of its recent closings, then dont ride it!... The choice is up to you and only you.
But im sure we all know that they will not reopen it if there is any doubt at all that the ride may not be functioning properly.

A friend of mine heard from a bus driver that Disney is secretly refurbishing the queue to replace Aerosmith with Hannah Montana. The reason they want to keep it a secret: avoid fan riots around the Studios.

Yeah, and I heard they were adding a loo...oh wait.

With the intensity of this debate one would think there had been a fatality. Sheesh.

And thank god there wasn't... But image the thread if there was??? Everyone on here would blame the person dead, not Disney..

In a case like that, the same people who are complaining about Disney closing a ride to make sure it safe are the ones who would bash someone who got hurt because Disney's priority is to make sure guests are safe...

So, all you whiners, what is it?? Should Disney make sure rides are safe and shut them down if need to fix a problem, or should Disney operate rides in unsafe conditions and allow guests to be hurt or killed cause, as you all say, guests are stupid so it was probably the guests' fault anyway????

Excuse me I am one of those decapitated people and you have hurt my frail feelings. I am so upset I have lost my head. I may be seen holding a box in Haunted Mansion with my head inside. I am now the 1000th ghost at the Haunted Mansion. I did not volunteer.

I am amazed to see I can type this well without my head.

People, if it is open it is deemed safe. You stand a better chance of being run over by a crazy tourist driving around or being trample at park opening than getting injured or killed on a ride.

Are your kids safe in your car or SUV? Will the building you work in catch fire or collapse? Will that bridge fall into the water or pancake on the road below? Jesus, stop worrying about ifs and maybes, and live your life to the fullest and have some fun doing it.
