Look at it this way- because it's dark in there, you can't see what's going on as well, so you can't see the height of the drop you might take. And motion sickness or a fear of heights is often triggered by sight.

If he just focuses on the rawking music (yes, RAWKing) and the feel of the ride, he'll be fine.

On a side note: Did anyone else notice that Aerosmith must have been commissioned to change "Love in an Elevator"? It's one of their most famous songs, so they had to include it, but it seems Disney commissioned them to change it to "Loving a Rollercoaster" or something because the original song had some very un-Disney things in it
