Rock 'n' Roller Coaster - Help!

OK so my fiance absolutely refuses to ride this. He gets motion sickness on occasion. But here's the thing, he can ride Space Mountain and he's fine. I keep telling him it is smoother than Space Mountain and I really think he'd be fine and he'd like it. He's 1/2 way toward agreeing to go on.

So I am asking for help. Tell your honest opinion on the "sickness" factor of this ride. Does it jostle, are the flips too many or too much for you, etc. Even negative opinions are welcome.

Thanks!!

Should be fine

I'm not a big thrill ride fan, and I don't like coasters that jerk you around a lot--I had to take an aspirin after riding the Scream Machine at Six Flags Over Georgia--and I really enjoy riding the RnRC. It's very smooth to me. Also I have a friend who really likes it because he doesn't like big drops. Really, I think of it as the fun coaster even for those who don't like coasters.

I don't get motion sickness specifically, so I can't comment on that. But I would agree that it's at least as smooth as Space Mountain.

My wife hates roller coasters, or drops of any kind. She loves RNR. It has very little in the way of drops, and the design of the ride is such that you don't even realize the inversions. This is not a ride to be missed.

I loved RNRC, but I don't get motion sickness very easily...with that being said, the actual ride itself should cause him to be fine, however the part where he might get sick is during the ride take-off. That always got me in the stomach a litte bit. Hope this was helpful and hope the wedding planning is going well Kelly!

LOL it just has that 80ft "little" drop from the top of the inversions ;)

I'm not a big coaster fan, but I love RnRC. It's so smooth and so fast that it's over befoe you get a chance to get scared!

This is my absolute favorite ride! The first time I rode it, I was a little skeptical because I hated roller coasters but as soon as I got off it, I wanted to go back on. I love Aerosmith and having their music playing while riding a roller coaster is a GREAT combination, plus you don't focus too much on the ride IMO. My husband wasn't too keen on it the last time he rode it but that's because of the rush of air on 'take-off' that it bothered his contacts. I've talked him into going on it again with me next month. Can't wait!! :) Oh, and Good Luck! :D

Mmmmmm, hate to be the only naysayer here, but I'm scared of extreme roller coasters. I like space mountain, it's really like an inside "made mouse" coney island type ride. Lots of little ups and downs and fairly smooth. I just tried RnR for 1st time in July and all I could do was close my eyes, concentrate on breathing and wait until it was over. Launching at the beginning is really extreme (for me) and I couldn't enjoy any of the ride for fear of getting real sick. I am 43 though and I've been a good sport long enough. I'm not going on these kind of rides anymore.

p.s. there was a thread here awhile back about this being a "twin" coaster of one in Holland, but the one in Holland isn't covered up inside a building.. they posted a picture. At least you could get an idea of what your in for by looking at the photo.

For me the motion sickness I get from RnRC is not neccessarily from the ride itself. It's from the bright neon signs that are scattered throughout the attraction!! If I keep my eyes closed during the ride I am usually a tiny bit woozy but not sick but, if my eyes stay open then I am ill.

OK, I am prone to motion sickness, but mine is from spinning and riding in the car. I think he would be ok. My mother gets sick on a lot of rides, and we convinced her to go on it this last year and it turned out to be her favorite ride of the entire trip. I think he'll be fine, but be ready to take a rest and maybe get a Sprite. Sprite always helps me and mom settle our stomaches when we're motion sick! Hope you have a safe and magical trip!

I am also not into thrill rides, i refuse to go on tower of terror more than once a trip and same with splash, i dont when im not in control of my up/down motion, but i do love rnrc and would ride it all day if i could. the launch is pretty intense but adfter that its so smooth its like your not even upside down.

I didn't have any problems with it but I am a coaster nut! I do get motion sickness on rides that spin fast and the type of rides like Star Tours with the screen that makes it look like you are moving. Man that ride made me feel icky but just for a few minutes and then I was fine.

The only part of the ride that gets me queezy is the launch. Odd but I get a touch of nausea. It all clears up really quick. The ride itself does feel smoother than the jerkyness of Space Mountain but it's still bumpy. I don't think motion sickness should be a problem on RnRC. Despite the 80 ft drop from the inversion that wdwmagic reminded us of, there really is no feeling of height or drop, just speed. I think he'll be fine. Tighten up his Nikes and Just Do It!! :sohappy:

Oh, and if you head over to IOA, ya gotta do the Hulk!! :hurl:

Having worked RnRc, and being able to ride it many many times. Ride in the front, it is a lot smoother than the back. Truthfully, Space Mountain is a lot smoother than RnRc. So my best advice, ride towards the front.

:veryconfu Are you nuts? Front or back RNR is smoother than Space Mountain. Space Mountain is basically a wild mouse coaster...the very point of these types of coasters is to jerk you around.

Sitting up front is a good idea for anyone who may get motion sickness though. In the back you get to really feel the physics of a roller coaster. :D

I also just wanted to add that the first tiem I rode RNR I got queezy but as soon as we hit the first inversion it went away. I think it was just because I didn't quite expect the quickness...so my stomach just took a second to catch up. It's never hapened to me since then though.
