Hi All

I will be traveling to the Wilderness Lodge March 5-9. I just read on allearsnet that Roaring Forks is down for rehab from Jan 9 until late March. I've never been here before. How will I get my several cups of coffee in the am? Will they have the refillable mugs and counter service at another location in the lodge?

If anyone was there recently can you please provide some info.

Thanks

No refillable mugs, but they will have limited items such as drinks and cold breakfast pastries, sandwiches, etc. I have heard that it might open as early as 3/8, but just speculation.

I may be wrong, but don't they have coffee pots in the WL rooms?

They did not when we stayed at the Contemporary. I guess they figure people will order room service? But we called Housekeeping and they brought one to us.

TJMOUSE may have some additional info that I am not familiar with but I posted this question about 6-8 weeks ago when I first got the letter from Disney informing of the rehab and the consensus of other resorts was that they will sell the mugs at the pool hut and the retail store and you will be able to refill at both the Hut and Whispering Canyon.

I am there 2/11 - 2/18 and my first Artist Pointe dinner on Sunday the 12th...also my 30th bday.... Here's hoping I can luck into a ride on Everest!!!

Let me know if we get any more valid info on this... although there not much of a choice either way...

That's what I was told when I called WL directly about a month ago to ask about the mugs.

When I visited the WL a few weeks ago, Roaring Forks was still open. I had never eaten there before so I dont know what the setup was, but when you turn into the entrance, the area on the left was borded up and being rehabbed while on the right, you could walk in and order stuff.

The area on the left is usually where you would walk in and order. The area on the right is usually just the seating area.

Not old, just vintage.
I am glad to hear that RF's is open now. What exactly did they do to it? I've heard some less than wonderful reviews of how it is set up and was wondering if this recent rehab addressed that issue at all. (altho a large part of me is doubting this...:( )

That's how it was as of earlier this week. Again, the only part still closed was the seating area to the right.

hopefully they themed it a bit more, but left it somewhat intact. It was a bit drab and out of place with the rest of the resort, IMO.

Thanks all for the info. Imagineerstock: Do you know what changes (if any) were made?
This past weekend was my first time back in years so I'm not sure of any of the minor changes that might have taken place, but I can tell you that the layout has definitely been reworked. The registers used to be in the middle of the room, and they now have all been moved to a counter in one of the corners of the room.

The new layout looks a little like this:
-Burgers, chicken strips, and other hot made-to-order items are found on the right side of the room.
-Soups, sandwiches, and salads are found on the far back wall.
-The left side of the room is mainly drinks made up of soda machines as well as other hot and cold beverage items.
-The wall closest to the entrance hallway is where the line forms and where the checkout counter with the registers is.
-And the middle of the room is made up of shelves and baskets containing all kinds of grab-and-go items like chips, cookies, sweets, etc.

This room contains no seating, the adjacent dining area has not re-opened yet and is still behind a construction wall. There are a handful of small tables and chairs in the hallway for now as well as outdoor seating... either that or you can take your meal up to the room with you.

Thanks Imagineerstock! From your decription it sounds like they completely reworked it. If someone can get pictures in the next few days, that would be really great. Inquiring minds want to see....:D

I believe this is still the rehab format. Once the entire place reopens, it will be different.
