RnRc Retheme?

Mickey Views has recently updated a new video and has said the following. Please keep in mind that Brayden is a dubious source and has a spotty record to say the least. The reason why I am posting is that he has proven to have gotten things right in the past with that disclaimer out of the way here goes:

When Rock N Roll opens the gift shop will be totally stripped of anything Aerosmith related as the merch contract has allegedly ran out with the band. This includes posters on the walls. He also alleges that the attraction itself is a handful of years from lasping its rights deal with Aerosmith. He has heard two IP’s he considers to be front runners for replacement but didn’t share them in the video. A replacement though he has said is definitely on the way.

I’ve heard from more reliable sources on here it comes down to the brakes having issues. Nothing cosmetic to my knowledge.

Prior to the closure, the only Aerosmith merch at the store was a simple logo tank top and the rest were RNRC apparel with "Starring Aerosmith" below it (most of the RNRC merch had already excluded Aerosmith from it). I wouldn't take that portion of the rumor seriously, I don't think Aerosmith was selling as much apparel and it's far more profitable to exclude them from it.

Launch coasters by nature are finicky (look at all the trouble VelociCoaster, Hagrid’s, and Top Thrill have with their launch). RNRC was built at a time where they were even worse than finicky: they were downright temperamental. They’ve had issues with the ride’s launch and breaking for years, and along the way have done the best fixing they can with limited time offered to them.

My guess is on the last refurb, they did the same sort of repairing they’ve always done to it. But due to the ride’s age and a long history of quick solutions that created a sort of piecemeal hodgepodge of solutions, they realized it was time to do actual serious work on it.

We know much more now about coaster launches than we did in the late 90s, and Vekoma especially has learned a great deal. I think the last short refurb was an attempt to do some serious work on it but they ultimately couldn’t do all that needed to be done, so they’re doing it now.

Unfortunately, I don’t know that we’ll ever see it be truly reliable. The ride type just is generally unstable. Universal experiences the same issues with their launch coasters as this (VelociCoaster especially has a wheel overheating issue). Its the risk you run with launched coasters.

Yeah launch coasters especially the 1st generation ones ( Xcelerator at Knotts, Storm Runner at Hersheypark, and of course Rockin Rollercoaster) are not the poster children when it comes to reliability.

I mean, there is a reason Disney wrote a whole minute-ish of dialogue if the launch on Cosmic Rewind doesn’t go right away lmao

That has more to do with the train ahead of you clearing block stations since Disney wants you to experience the entire coaster section unbothered with no slow downs at any of the ride's numerous block sections until the very end. If you experience a delay at launch, you'll notice when you return to the station there isn't a cascade of coaster vehicles waiting to enter unload like other coasters.

That has more to do with the train ahead of you clearing block stations

And the back ups are usually due to guests slow-unboarding or slow-boarding.

I've seen a full minute spent on a guest whose size kept the lap bar from fully engaging.

If you throw out retheme rumors enough times you'll eventually be right. Aerosmith is scheduled to wrap up their (postponed) farewell tour in early 2025. Steven Tyler is 76. The band will be retired after which point it doesn't really make sense to be racing to see a concert. From a practical standpoint it would make sense to retheme it before Tyler or Perry pass away. With their age and former lifestyle that is likely to happen to one within a decade or less.

Definitely I don’t necessarily believe anything being said in my quote. The one thing though that’s undeniable is that this is going to get a retheme. In my opinion it’s a matter of what and not if.

Find the cardboard from superstar limo, 20 cases of spray adhesive, see what sticks, and now you have version 2. Bonus that you don't need new ride vehicles either. Edited to add that om trademarking the term "value imagineering".

I would love to see Superstar Limo or Mulholland Madness props be given new life… but I have to assume the plan is to incorporate IP. If they can’t do Avengers or Simpsons for licensing reasons, I’m worried we’re going to get High School Musical coaster.
