RNR Coaster... Slower?

Just got back from the world. I have ridden RNR Coaster several times and it seemed like has slowed down. Has anyone else noticed this?

I notice they don't advertise the 0-60 in 2.8 seconds anymore.
The 0-60 time is still used. This is from current page on the official site.

Each "car" is furnished with a 125 speaker, 24 sub-woofer, 32,000 watt, onboard audio system—built to blast. Careen through the neon-filled streets of Tinseltown, the rock 'n' roll adrenaline pumping through your veins, your body feeling the force from launch to loop at zero to 60 miles per hour in 2.8 seconds. This is one limo ride you'll always remember!

In regards to the speed being different....Humans are notoriously bad at accurately judging speed, g-forces, etc. When you also figure in how poor our memories are the probability of your memory being incorrect is much greater than the ride changing. Our brains work more like a schizophrenic with a sketch pad and bad hand writing than a hard drive. Lastly the experience on any roller coaster will vary based on where you sit. While every car in the train is moving at the same speed the g-forces on each seat are different. In most cases a seat at the front of the train will produce a milder ride than a seat in the back.

I too noticed it. I rode it when it first opened and then through out the years. But only a 2 years ago i felt like it lost that emmmphhhh!!!!!! at the beggining. The first time i lost my breath until it stopped accelerating... So i think it slowed down.

Also alien encounter used to be much scarier... Then disney down graded it to be more enjoyable to others. Thats what they said.

Love the Avatar! Almost makes the lobby seem like one of an actual hotel. I've always disliked that version, but it's a great shot!

I think it has to do with the total weight of people on the ride at a given time. The more fat people on the ride, the slower it goes. This time of year is cooler and fat people tolerate the cold better than people of average weight.

Go on the ride in the middle of July and it will most likely be faster because fewer fat people will be in line.

Uh, actually I believe, in theory, a train full of fat people would go faster, not slower.

There were maybe 8 people on the hole train the first ride and maybe 12 the second. I rode it twice in a row.

That would be true after the initial loop since it is all gravity from there, but the initial launch I think would be slower because of the heavier weight.

That sounds correct to me. Some of the kinetic energy on the launch is absorbed by the excess adipose tissue and thus there is less gravitational potential energy in the later stages of the ride.

Depending on where you get a seat (the experience varys); first row was one of the smoothest rides I've ever had, towards the back is a little rougher (which could be construed as faster). I'm thinking the speed doeesn't vary much.

And the first time I rode, the launch took my breath away; subsequently I knew what to expect, (and thought the ride not as radical).

This.

Although I can't comment specifically on RnR, the above holds true for most coasters. Sit in the front, and it feels as though the back of the train is pushing you ahead. Sit in the back, and it feels like the front is pulling you ahead - very often "whipping" you over the top of hills, etc.

The "physics" of roller coasters is one of the reasons I specifically prefer riding wooden coasters over steel ones - things like the weight of the occupants on your train, overall temperature, sunlight beating down on the track and wooden supports, etc. all have an effect on the ride experience. (Ride a wooden roller coaster early in the day on a cool morning, and again on a hot, sunny afternoon in the middle of summer, and you will feel the difference.)

With steel coasters, especially one indoors where the climate control is even more stable, have less of a variation.

I'm guessing the difference some posters are noticing is only out of perception - which as Master Yoda pointed out, changes day to day, and even hour to hour. But it would still be interesting to hear one of the real insiders of the board weigh in on the topic.

The irony is I just bumped an old thread less than an hour ago;)
