Ok I'm 4 days away...anticapation is building...really building!
For those of you who have stayed at Riverside is Oak Manor a nice building to stay in. Some friends have recomended that I request this building on my visit. Do you have any favorites or least favorite buildings. Thanks for your thoughts.

I just got back today, after being there a week, and I can definately suggest that unless you like being a blood donor to the mosquito population, either take some spray with you, or buy some when you get there!! One person in our party got lit up for 20+ bites!!

We stayed in Parterre Place this time last year which is next to Oak Manor. It was lovely, I prefered it to CBR myself. But I know what the insect bites can be like so take that cream with you!!

Alligator Bayou building 14 or 15 is great...you cannot go wrong with that one being close to everything. Oak Manor is a good one to stay at for the mansions.

Parterre Place...hated it. Too far from everything. The walk is really much further than it looks on the map, especially when it is bad weather it can be an aggravation to get to the main building or bus stop and vice versa.

Have to agree with Ringo. The first time I stay at Riverside I stayed in Partierre Place Building was nice but a little out of the way. In March of this year we stayed in Alligator Bayou and building 14 or 15 is definitely the way to go. Close to main bus stop, right next to Food court and not far away from main pool or quiet pool.

Heading for the great escape.
Aligator Bayou for me too. The bus (used to ) picks up from the front of the resort first and if its busy and you are at the mansions you may have to wait, many times we went past staring sad faces. I liked the quiet pools at night, good place to mend those plates of meat.

I rather like Magnolia Terrace. Have stayed there twice. It's a pleasent stroll to the Food Court and Boatwright's across Ol' Man Island, and a short walk to the East Depot. But, hey, that's just me. I do strongly feel that Dixie Lan...(rats)Okay POR (It will always be DL to me!) is the best moderate, and any room there is okay by me at the AP rate I got for February!

Hi there I stay at POR pretty frequentply so I have some thoughts. I liked Oak Manor when I stayed there in May. I have also stayed at Parterre Place and Acadian House. I have also stayed in the Bayou section in building 18 there which really was right by the food court/main building area. My preference is still for the theming and the layout of the Mansions area. I found the Bayou area very twisty in terms of the pathways and I tended to get lost there a bit faster than usual. The pools really are lovely in that area, though. The Mansions are just so pretty and appealing for me. When I had gone in May we got a complete rehabbed room in Oak Manor so I am sure that rehab is complete. Parterre Place was going to be going down for its rehab in July when I stayed at the French Quarter, just downriver. Im sure that is done by now or most of the way. If you are concerned about a longer walk, the best advice I can give you is to upgrade to a waterview room within the Mansions. I did that one year and I got a lovely room right on the end of Parterre Place. One side faced the Sassagoula River, one side faced the pool and we were steps away from the bridge leading to the Main building area. It really was lovely and my Mom was just delighted. Also Id definitely tell you to try Boatwright's the full service sit down restaurant in POR. This place has got to be the best on property for a sitdown ala carte breakfast. if you try it on your first morning there, you may not end up in the food court at all!!!!! Also dont forget to check out the lounge area in the Main Building, it is really nice and the piano player they have there is incredibly entertaining. There is also a boat that runs from the resort, to the French Quarter Side of the resort and then from there to Downtown Disney (Clubs, shopping etc.) It is a pretty nice, romantic cruise downriver!!!! Check and see if they still have a campfire at night ( They did last year during the colder months) and you could buy the makings for s'mores!!!! You have chosen an outstanding resort for this trip!!! I hope you have a great time and any more questions, just post and Ill try to answer what I can!!! Belle
